Stopped in on a rainy day with our 2 kids. The ladies were so friendly to both us and our kids. (Which after visiting wineries around the world is so rare.) A big bonus was the wine, very unique and worth the stop. We are so glad we went and are eveb happier we are staying close by so we can go back. Don't think about missing this wondrful winery!

So there were 4 people being served when we arrived. The woman serving said she'd be starting a new tasting in a few minutes and we could browse while we waited. Well, we did. Wait that is. One couple left, so it was the one woman serving/chatting with the remaining couple, and another worker was busy doing something. I can tell you the server came from Minnesota, lived briefly in Washington, and her husband came from Alaska ... as I overheard this while WAITING... We finally put back the shirt my wife was going to buy, passed on the tastings and the glasses we would have bought and left. The wine might be good, be we'll never know. We visit many wineries, and are trying to get to at least one in every 50 states. This is the first one we've had to walk out of.

First, I would like to thank all Trip Advisor respondents for their feedback. We can only improve with good feedback. Next, I would like to apologize to the couple who we did not properly serve. This is not a typical way we treat our customers. Often, we have customers who come from the National Park who are chilled from the coolness here in Volcano and they are looking for some respite from the cold. We really try to show Aloha spirit with a welcome and then give them some time to warm up, look around, and then taste at their convenience. We, the TR staff and myself, were very concerned when we read this comment. We just missed it and are very sorry! There are times when we get a bit overwhelmed when a couple of tour groups show up at the same time but we have a tea tasting area that we use for overflow wine tastings and this should not have happened. Particularly, since it sounds like we were not very busy at the time. For future visitors, please let us know if you are on a schedule and we will do everything in our power not to let this type of experience happen again! Sincerely Delwin Bothof

Volcano Winery offers a premium tasting ( I think it was $8 or $9) and I later saw a coupon for a free tasting in one of the tourism magazines. There are some unique offerings here worth checking out.

The staff was really great and very friendly. The wines were a little sweet for my taste but not bad wines. Did a tasting & bought a glass to drink outside in their picnic area. You can do a $5 or $8 tasting or purchase a glass of wine for about $7. they also have cheese & crackers for purchase. Spent $12 for an hour diversion, now that's value in Hawaii :)

we visited the winery after leaving Volcanoes Nat'l Park and am glad we did. for $5, you can taste the majority of their wines and being i'm a fan of sweeter wines, i was of course delighted with most of them. it's not often you can say you've visited a winery located on a volcano so why not check it out if you find yourself in the area? be warned though that the parking lot is very small and can get a little tight.
