When was the last time you could really hear birds sing? If you live in a city or a good sized town it's rare to sit outside and just embrace the quiet and listen to many different song birds. This beautifully maintained inn is up a long driveway. We watched native pheasants, doves and many songbirds flitting through the forest outside our deck. When you are there you have the sense you are miles from the rest of the world yet your are very close to the National Park and several good restaurants. Dan, the house manager, made us a lovely breakfast and answered lots of questions about the area and things to see in the park. If you want to see the park at a leisurely pace stay here and get away from it all for a few days.

Room Tip: There are only four guest rooms and they are all nice!

If you're interested in Hawaiian volcanic activities, this B&B is the perfect location. Dan, the Manager, was a lovely helpful guy and made the most delicious breakfasts.

The Volcano Forest Inn is also near the black sand beach with sleeping turtles; the green sand beach (don't forget to wear a hat @ sunscreen - it's about a 3 mile walk!); USA's most southern wine yard; and of course the Volcanos National Park.

All in all, we highly recommend you stay here.

Stayed 5 nights and we're blown away by the size of the room, the relaxed atmosphere and rainforest right around us. Walking distance from the post office, convenience store, art gallery, restaurants, 2 miles from the Volcanoes National Park and 3 miles from the winery. Very generous and filling breakfasts and Dan was very helpful. Our preferred place to stay on Big Island. Thank you!

This place is the perfect spot to stay overnight while visiting the crater. Not only was it so close, it was sooo cozy and clean.
The room was big. Breakfast in the am was great and the staff (young lady and gentlemen) were very accommodating and super nice. They made my husband and I feel like family.
We stayed there in mid April. It was a bit chilly, so dress accordingly for the area.

We stayed here for two nights while visiting the Park and the small volcano village. The entire house is very new, and the rooms because of this are extremely spacious. The rooms are kept very clean and the beds + linens are comfy and clean as well. The location is very close to the Park (5 min drive) and also near some great restaurants in the village area.

Breakfast every day was pancakes with half of papaya, some cut up banana, and a rambutan fruit. Not the biggest breakfast but very fresh and tasty. Coffee, tea and juices were also available.

Some nice touches were little chocolates in the bedroom upon our check-in, body soap and shampoo dispensers in the showers, Wi-Fi throughout the house, and flashlights + umbrellas you could borrow for walks and such (the lane way to the house is unlit).

We had a great stay here and would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone. Nicky and Dan were great!
