We actually did NOT stay at the Volcano Places (I selected Feb '13 as my travel date as you cant post reviews otherwise) since they didnt have any cottage available as per our dates but this review is to let you guys know how helpful Kathryn at Reservation end of Volcano Places was. I want to give a shout-out to Kathryn at Volcano Places for being super helpful and friendly. Since we couldnt stay at one of their cottages- she sent me a few recommendations for places around with complete details and websites for the park info as well.

I had sent in an excellent review in late January...which somehow never got on this sight. So, again I would like to give Kate and her Cottage a resounding two thumbs up! I was originally skeptical that this property and host could be as outstanding as the reviews stated. However, I agree with the terrific reviews. The Cottage was just as shown ....beautiful, clean and fully stocked. So much so, that upon leaving I joked with kate that I had looked for something to complain to her about and had just this one complaint...the can openner was not up to snuff. Seriously, we felt like we were on a movie set....with the back porch cut into the rain forrest...just beautiful...and only a few minutes away from VNP!

Room Tip: Kate has a few units that differ in size. The Cottage was quite large enough for the two of us and I...

We stayed at Nohea and the place was outstanding, about the best non hotel property we have ever stayed in. We were there for 2 nights and were able to quickly get to the National Park. It was so much easier to stay in
Volcano rather than elsewhere and have to drive long distances to see the volcano at night. Kathryn met us upon arrival and thoroughly explained how everything worked. Nohea is stocked withy anything in the kitchen that you'll ever want. And it is hard to beat having your own private hot tub. We definitely will recommend staying here.

We stayed at the Nohea cottage for 2 nights while visiting the Big Island. We couldnt have asked for a better place to stay. Very well-equipped cottage and the staff is very friendly. We would go back and stay there!

We stayed 5 nights in Kahi Malu and could've stayed a month. Plenty of space, extremely well-stocked with national park maps & reading material about Hawaii (everything from wildlife to culture to volcano lore), headlamps & gloves for night lava hikes, fully provisioned kitchen... everything we thought we needed and then everything else that we didn't realize we would need on top of that.

The location is perfect - secluded without being isolated, right outside the national park entrance, and a short drive to everything else on the island.

The heated mattress pads were a wonderful touch.

This place manages to be both cozy and luxurious! Highly recommended, and I would go back in a heartbeat.

We stayed for 2 nights at TWP in Volcano. The cottage is beautiful and peaceful located a midst dense forest and yet close to Volcano National Park (5 mins drive to the entrance) and Volcano village. Only the lower level of the cottage is rented out which includes a bedroom, bath, living room, fireplace and a small kitchen area. The kitchenette is well stocked with condiments, oil, cereals, oats and utensils. Buy few fresh groceries and you can easily cook some meals here. There are DVDs available as well which range from movies to documentaries on volcano eruptions.

Kathryn, manager and owner of Volcano places, manages this property. She is a wonderful person and it was a delight meeting her. She goes out of her way to make her guests feel comfortable and ensures that the cottage is kept clean. Her knowledge about Volcanoes National Park is extensive and we were glad we asked her to share some of it with us. Thanks to her tips, we were able to better plan our time in Volcano. Thank you Kathryn for making our Volcano trip awesome!

We will highly recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a nice, comfortable and convenient stay in Volcano!
