“Must See Spot”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 27, 2014

This museum sits across from the Volcano. It has a bird's eye view of it and visiting it at night, you can experience the smoldering glow of the volcano. The museum itself is small and filled with information on volcanoes, their parameters and traits and particularly how this volcano erupted and formed the huge crater surrounding it, as well as the beaches below. Part of your trip must include a visit to this on-site museum.

“Visit Pele's home”

The museum overlooks the crater and Halemaumau, which is currently erupting. The night show is spectacular with the red lava glow. The Museum has exhibits and displays about volcanology and what is happening at the moment. there is also a well-supplied gift shop. Currently the museum is open late enough to view the night show and be able to learn about what you just saw.

“Excellent location for viewing the volcano”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 22, 2014

We arrived at the museum around 6pm a week ago, with the main purpose to go to the overlook to watch the glow of the volcano. The view was fantastic. We watched it from 6pm through sunset around 6:20 and all the way till dark. We first saw just the white smoke from the crater. As it got closer to sunset, the color turned pink, then red, then redder, then the glorious glow in the dark. A view not to be missed!

We did not get to see much else of the museum, but will do it next time.

“Jagger Museum”

interesting museum with a overlook.

Make sure you visit the museum at 4.00 pm once in daylight and then take a trip to all nearby activities and then return back for the glow in the night. You don't want to miss the volcano at both times, very few places in the world where you can do this kind of activity so plan it properly.
