“Night glow”

Go to the Hula at the Gallery in the National Park and then to Jaggar to see Pele the Fire god breathing out of the Crater. Fantastic.

“Awesome views”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 1, 2013

We visited Jaggar museum 2 different nights while at Volcano NP. We also stopped one during the day to see the actual museum.

The actual museum is interesting with information on earthquakes and volcanoes.
The day we were at Volcano NP there was a 4.8 earthquake and they had people there explaining about that

The real show is at night. It was our 1st time ever seeing an active volcano.
The glow from the Kilaeua Crater was awesome. The red glow was unforgettable.
The view of the stars from there was spectacular.
We did not see any actual lava flowing at the park while we where there.

We highly recommend stopping at Jagger Museum after dark to see some of the best views of mother nature has to offer

“Must see!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 29, 2013

Tip 1: Must see when it's all dark. You could see the gorgeous glow with stars and milky way. It's beyond words!

Tip 2: Must see during dusk or sunrise, when there is still enough light to show the terrain around the area. This is also the best time to take pictures with people due to better balance of various contrasts.

Tip 3: Eat early dinner to get there, or expect to have late dinner afterward. The limited number of restaurants in the area are expensive (if they stay open after 9pm).

Tip 4: Try reserving a table at the Volcano House for evening meal. The main restaurant is expensive w/ decent food. The special Pineapple wine is superb. The bistro side is more intimate and good for couples or dating. The main entrance also has several tables for bar-only customers. All 3 area offers superb view (although not as good as at the Museum)

Tip 5: Fully fuel your car before going there.

“Volcano visit and museum”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 24, 2013

We loved the site of the volcano. The museum is full of history and beliefs of the hawaiin gods. The volcano lava glows so beautifully and amazing at night.

“Visit after sunset”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 23, 2013 via mobile

The museum itself is very basic. But if you are a newby to volcanoes, this will give you the info you need to understand the processes that were and are going on in the park. The real eye catcher of the museum is the view on the volcano crater. Best visited after sundown, as you'll then see the lava glowing inside. Be aware: the viewing platform gets crowded.
