“My favorite Big Island Stop”
Reviewed April 1, 2013

Beautiful drive leads to a little shack with amazing smoothies. Walking around the building you will see all sorts of fruits being grown on site, including mango, papaya, bananas, avocados and more. You know your smoothie will be fresh. I also bought some huge avocados here and ate them on the beach the next day with some lemons. Amazing!

“Oasis on the Big Island”
Reviewed March 21, 2013

What,s Shakin is an out-of-the-way jewel, although it always seems to have lots of people relaxing on the porch or the picnic tables. We are connoisseurs of the all fruit smoothie - no dairy ingredients - and this place meets the mark. The smoothies are luscious and filling and you can taste every nuanced ingredient. The sandwiches are higher priced than you'd expect at a roadside stand, but the ingredients are very fresh and the portions large. We tucked away half of our sandwiches for dinner as a sandwich and a smoothie are just toomuch forone meal! Best oif all, if the stand is approached from the Hilo side aloong the jungly scenic drive, yoou feel like you have popped out of an Indiana Jones movie to find an oasis of civilization!

“Good food in out of the way location”
Reviewed March 16, 2013

This is a casual eatery with picnic tables. The food was good but a little pricey for what you get. The fruit smoothies were good.

“Paradise of fruits!”
Reviewed March 2, 2013

Such a lovely place to stop by after half day's hiking in the woods or by the shore. Their price is not cheap but I think good smoothies deserve it. They basically put all fresh fruit they grow (?) and mixed them into a cool sweet drink. That is like a paradise after a weary long hike....

“Excellent smoothies!”
Reviewed February 25, 2013

I've had a few smoothies at What's Shakin' and they've all been good. Try the Spirulina in one - if you can look past the green color it turns the smoothie. This is a great health boost. My only complaint is that on my last visit the size of the smoothies was much smaller for the same price. Given the economy I can accept that. And the smoothie still filled me up, so all in all I can't complain.
