“Exceptional display of plants, flowers, and scenery”
Reviewed November 7, 2013 credit card Amex Card Member Review

I can't say enough good things about the botanical gardens. Not only does it have a huge collection of exotic plants and flowers, but it is also in a great location. There is a nice waterfall on site, and there are some great spots along the ocean. Not to be missed if you are near Hilo. It was a great way to spend a couple hours.

“Wonderful if you love gardens”
Reviewed November 5, 2013

If you are on the windward side of the Big Island Hawaii, near Hilo, this attraction is a must if you love gardens. The trees and flowers are incredible. Keep in mind there is steeps to walk and if you are handicapped, they will take you in with a golf cart.

“Beautiful hike on the Big Island”
Reviewed November 4, 2013

This place is awesome. Plants from all over the islands as well as some imported from places in Asia. Awesome waterfall here (Onomea Falls) that may have been my favorite on the island. The colors in many of these flowers are incredible and unlike anything you will see in other places. Part of the hike leads you to great views of the coast. The whole hike is paved and there are benches throughout. Definitely take the time to stop here and check out the flowers, trees, and birds....yes they even have a few birds here as well.
