“Tough climb out is worth every breathless moment!”
Reviewed March 20, 2013

Ever seen a Hanging Lobster Claw or a Firecracker Heliconia? Or six varieties of ginger? Parrots (albeit in a massive cage) cavorting within sight of teeny orchids? No? Then visit this garden. As you descend down a steep, well-marked path (which you will have to climb back up), you pass amazing plants and stare up at unbelievably tall trees. It's not a prissy, pristine garden, but it's full of wonder. Bring snacks to enjoy at the picnic tables at the outlooks by the sea before you head back. Take water, and take your time.

“The garden is okay, but some of the staff....”
Reviewed March 17, 2013

The garden could use a little more professional eye, removal of some of the invasive weeds in the garden areas, and a least one area that features indigenous Hawaiian plants (95% of the garden are exotics from other places), but the real turn off were some of the staff. Half the staff were very friendly, but there were a few that were rude and lacked any aloha at all.

Well run, beautiful gardens. Very impressive array of flowers and plants. Well marked trails and footpaths. Stunning ocean views on the lower part of the trails.

“Incredible experience!”
Reviewed March 16, 2013

We visited here as part of a cruise a few years ago. What an amazing and beautiful place! My husband and I live near the famous Butchart Gardens in Victoria; and HTBG still resonates with us as a place just as magical. I can`t find words to describe how out-of -this-world and wonderful these Hawaiian gardens are: don`t miss them, even if you have to fly there from another of the Hawaiian islands - it`s worth every penny.

Fantastic assortment of flowering plants. Plan on taking a couple of hours to see everything. Bring mosquito repellent.
