Owner description: The Hawaii Tropical Botanical Garden is a 501(c)(3) Scientific and Educational non-profit, whose mission is to serve as a nature preserve and sanctuary, a living seed bank, and a study center for trees and plants of the tropical world. The Garden is dedicated to the collection and display of the world's tropical plants, and to the education of both children and adults about the plight of the world's rainforests. At a time when rainforest plants are disappearing at an alarming rate, the Garden is working to preserve as many species as possible for the benefit of future generations.

“Best Botanic Garden I've Seen”

The trail is well laid out and encompasses many different areas-waterfall, aviary, ocean. Wonderful collection of plants. A nice size that can be fully seen in a couple of hours.
They need more plant identification signs though.

“paradise”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 30, 2013

This is one of my absolute favorite places on the islands! It's a paradise for plant-lovers and photographers. After your visit, drive a bit further down the road and grab some yummy lunch at What's Shakin'.

“Tropical Jungle”

This garden must resemble the one in Eden. Wonderful semi wild growth of plants from Hawaii and around the world arrayed next to well designed pathways. Fabulous views of the ocean and bays along side huge trees, orchids and anthuriums. Access is limited for the movement impaired.

“Outstanding !!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 26, 2013

We have driven by here before and not stopped...what a mistake !! This is a beautiful place. Lot's of flowers in bloom, Birds everywhere, water falls and ocean views. We went early and it was not very busy yet. Do not past by this garden. We will return on our next trip to the Big Island.

“Tranquil and a visual and olfactory rush!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 19, 2013 via mobile

I am a visual person and an artist so I expected to like the gardens, but I was not prepared for how totally overwhelmingly beautiful they are. The gardens are in a large canyon that rings with the sounds of rushing water and waterfalls. The plantings are thick and lush with thoughtfully and artistically placements. One of my best visual experiences ever! GO even if you are not a visual person.
