“Lush beautiful gardens”
Reviewed July 3, 2012

So many tropical plants from so many places in one location. A very enjoyable walk through the jungle with a beautiful waterfall and even some macaws. You start by going down quite a few steps that you have to go back up at the end. There are some nice ocean views too. We felt it was well worth the $15 admission.

“Spectacular”
Reviewed July 3, 2012

This was our favorite attraction coming to the Big Island. You meander through a tropical rainforest with all the spectacular and brilliantly colored fauna. We stopped to take a lot of pictures and it only took about 90 minutes. Meaner off the grounds and visit the seashore accessible via the back gate and public access trail. This made our trip to Akaka Falls worthwhile.

“A Top Attraction on the Big Island”
Reviewed June 30, 2012

One of our favorite places we visited on the Big Island. It is unbelievable how much work went into this paradise. So pleasant to spend a couple of hours. The foliage is amazing, not just the flowers, but the different greenery. And the waterfall, and the crashing ocean greets you surprisingly at the end of the walk. Bring insect repellent, though I only got one bite. Don't miss it!

“Beautiful well maintained mature gardens”
Reviewed June 28, 2012

This "Garden in a Valley on the Ocean"located on 40-acre valley which is protected from buffeting tradewinds and blessed with fertile volcanic soil. The vegetation is mature and beautiful. The view of the ocean at the end of the gardens is stunning.

Places like this are off of "scenic routes" which seem like you are going through the back woods through someone's private property! Signage is obscure so you have to trust your GPS to get you there! We all thought that this place is beautiful, especially when you get to the ocean at the bottom of the "hill".

This is a must see if you are in the Hilo area of the Big Island. Probably one of my top three places that I visited when we stayed on the Big Island
