Lava Tree State Park
Ranked #9 of 29 things to do in Pahoa

It is so lush and green here. The lava trees are very bizarre but quite picturesque. Easy pathway with a short well marked walk. Pretty garden.
Can be skipped if you have a busy day but if you have the time - stop on by for a few minutes

It is interesting. But, mostly it's just a beautiful place to stretch your legs and walk around. It's worth the stop if you are driving by. I don't know that I would go hours out of my way to see it.

It was interesting but walking around the whole 'park' lasts only about 20 minutes. There's little blurbs to read about what your looking at. We drove past the entrance of the park about 5 times before we finally saw it. It's on the left side of the road if your heading south. Don't feel bad if you miss this attraction.

This park did not meet our expectations. Well it is nice to see these trees when knowing how they were transformed, but that is all. I cannot say we enjoyed it in any special way.

Take your time and have a look at all the interesting plants and different things in the park. It is an easy stroll with wide paths and a few places to sit along the way. About 1 hour or a little longer should be plenty of time to have a look at everything. A must see are the lava trees which the park is named for. There are very clean bathrooms which is a nice feature. No fee to enter.
