“nice state park!”
Reviewed April 24, 2013

This was a nice, maybe 30 minute stop. Very pretty and interesting. I wouldn't specifically go just for the park, but do stop if you are driving by!

“Small but nice”
Reviewed April 24, 2013

This is a small state park. You can walk through the whole park in a small amount of time. It is beautiful there. The trees are so nice to see. There are signs to explain how the lava took over the trees and left the molds many years ago. It's fascinating to see these and to think what it must have been like when the lava was flowing there. It is a nice place to spend some time.

“Clean restrooms and a lovely stroll”
Reviewed April 17, 2013

A local park with a fascinating origin, Lava Tree State Park is worth a half-hour visit enroute to Volcanoes National Park, the big attraction in the area. It has a easily navigable trails and a unique geological history, not to mention clean restrooms.

“Quiet little park with some interesting landforms”
Reviewed April 17, 2013

Quiet little park with a paved path around a handful of interesting old lava forms. Go see it if you're nearby, but not really worth going out of your way.

“Nice hike in local park”
Reviewed April 5, 2013

Get out for a short hike around the park, see unusual formations related to lava flows. Respect the area, enjoy the plants as well and get a brief geological education as well.
