“A little Italy in the heart of Pahoa.”
Reviewed November 2, 2013 via mobile

We ate here twice during our visit and enjoyed our meals on both occasions. The restaurant is quaint, the service friendly. Bring your own bottle of wine. There is a 5 dollar uncorking fee. Worth the visit!

“Great homemade Italian food”
Reviewed October 13, 2013

Everything was fantastic. Run by 2 Italians who really know how to cook. They make their own pasta and you can tell that everything is fresh and homemade. They don't serve wine, but you can take your own for a reasonable corkage fee. If you love real Italian food, try this great restaurant in the little town of Pahoa. We couldn't help but wonder why they don't open a place in Hilo or Kona, but they've been in this location since 1993, so they must like what they're doing.

“Consistently Delicious”
Reviewed September 9, 2013

Paolo's Bistro, located in the charismatic old wooden town of Pahoa is authentic Northern Italian cuisine. Paolo, a nightly fixture is from Livorno and regularly comes out from the kitchen to make sure his customers are happy. I have eaten here year after year and especially enjoy the mixed seafood on homemade hand cut black ribbon pasta. His lamb special is very delicious. Also the salmon ravioli is quite memorable.

There is an outdoor covered patio that is private for small parties and its fun to be outside. You have to walk through the kitchen to get there and the staff is terrific.

He makes the teramisu in large pans because if you know this place you always save room.

“Big Italian eats in a small town”
Reviewed September 7, 2013 via mobile

The town may be small, and the restaurant even smaller, but the flavor of Paolo's is enormous. I've run into the owner many times at the farmers market in Hilo, so I know the ingredients are very fresh. If you're in town or just passing through make sure to stop here.

“Paulo's the greatest!!”
Reviewed August 23, 2013

My husband Mike and I plan our trips to "the other side" around Paulo and his restaurant.. the food is outstanding, but his personality is the "whipped cream on the tiramisu" (which is fabulous by the way) .. not to be missed, the cioppino.. , any pasta.. even his side of pasta that comes with some dinners is delish!! Getting to bring your own wine is a bonus and don't forget to share with the chef!! LOVE, love, love it! I can't wait until Sept. when we get to go again.. Just wish not so far from our home....
