Even on a very busy beach day, was happily surprised to see a sea turtle lounging quietly on the sandy beach, soaking up the sun, with orange traffic cones set around to keep the crowds at bay. Big, beautiful, majestic turtle. Black sand nice and hot on a cool day. Well worth the visit.

We loved hanging out on the beach. We were hoping turtles would show up but with the day being a holiday, the beach was so filled with children, that the turtles stayed away like I would!!

It was very windy the day we were there but we got to observe sea turtles coming in and going out of the water. Beautiful spot, and would be a great place to hang out on a less windy day.

Very special feeling with the fine, smooth black sand that you find here. Strong currents occur here but there is a lifeguard on duty daytime. Small shops with souvenirs and restrooms is available. The main thing about this beach is the Turtles! You have good chance of spotting one or two! Remember to not go to close - its illegal.

I loved this black sand beach! We saw 4 beautiful turtles here. They were sitting in an area roped off and people are expected to stay 30 feet away from the turtles. After we oohed and ahhed over the turtles we went snorkeling. My leg actually got caught in a fishing line. It took some time to dig the line out of the coral. I can only imagine how awful it would have been for one of the turtles to get snagged in it. The water here was calm for snorkeling and it was beautiful.
