Spent 2 days in the park and it was exceptional. Well recovered from the eruptions last year with most of the park reopened. Priced right at $25 for a car for the week. Lots of hiking options and the chain of craters road had lots of things to see. Enjoy the visitors center first stop and the rangers will give you good advice depending on how long you are staying.

Have lunch at Volcano Lodge and look over the crater.

Would have liked to see lava flows but mother nature is on her own time.

Needs to be on anybody's bucket list.

We were on NCL cruise and took an Hawaii Volcano National Park excursion to see the volcano. The driver(tour guide) briefly described this place and stayed on the bus while we get off the bus to take pictures. There were only 3 bus stops and only have time to snap pictures. There is no volcano in action except some steaming cracks since the 2018 eruption is long over.

Hawaii Volcanoes National Park is where you can see the volcano caldera. An entry fee is required. The best view is from Volcano House just across from the visitor centre. The volcano is inactive at present and several areas are shutdown for various reasons. Do your homework before you go to make sure you can see what you want to.

It took us 2 hours from Kona to get here. Since there is no active volcanos (flowing lava), it was rather boring. Views of the craters are cool. Take the trail of the craters and go all the way to the end, there’s a cool arch. If you made it here then you must go to the punalu’u black sand beach where the sand is the blackest and the Papakōlea green sand beach.

This is a must see if you are on the big island. We were able to visit the caldera, or large crater of the active volcano which erupted just last year. It is massive and must be seen to be believed. there are huge piles of lava rock that you can cling on but be very careful - some of it is sharp like glass! There are many amazing plants and flowers here as well. So much to see!! Be sure to look for the sleeping grass near the big steam vent (the one with the rails around it). It actually curls up when you touch it!!
