Greenwell Farms has a long history and a small farm and processing facility so you can see how the cherry gets turned into a a perfect roasted bean. The staff were very friendly and explained the details. At the end, samples are free and bags are ready for purchase. I would recommend going a day other than Sunday so you can tour the historical society and other shops in the area.

Nice place, nice tour of a coffee plantation (30-45 minutes). Bring your own cup or thermos at the end of the day (their closing time varies) and they'll fill it with 100% Kona coffee from their plantation for free (while their pre-made sample coffee lasts).

My husband loves good coffee and we loved this tour. While I am not a coffee drinker, I still enjoyed the short tour that was provided at Greenwell Farms. The guide spoke about the history of the farm, why the Kona area is perfect for coffee growing, as well as how coffee beans were harvested...who knew there was so much involved. It is a short tour, so you don't have to invest a lot of time.

There were plenty of samples for my husband to try and he tried a lot! The guide and other workers were very nice and not pushy at all about buying their products. Since we've visited, we've purchased coffee online from Greenwell for a treat every now and then.

We stopped at Greenwell Farms on a trip down Highway 11 and it was worth it. Not only was their coffee better than a lot of other Kona coffees I've had, but they weren't stingy with their free samples. The tour of their farm was worth it as they described their process very well. And they will even ship the coffee back home for you. And I can't wait to get home and get my box of Greenwell Farms coffee!

The Greenwell Coffee Farm Tours run about 1/2 hour to 1 hour throughout the day. Its a short 30-45 presentation, limited to about 10 people. It is right off Highway 11 with ample parking. The guide explains the history of the Greenwell Farms, Coffee in general and the step by step process of coffee making. Tour ends right back the retail store, with free samples of coffee or Kona Red.

The tour guides and retail staff where friendly, helpful and courteous. No pressure to buy any Greenwell Farms products. You felt comfortable enough that you could ask any questions you wanted.

Tip: On Thursdays (from about 10:00 am to 12 Noon), adjacent to the Greenwell Farm is the Kona Historical Society's stone oven to make Portuguese Sweet, White & Wheat Bread. You can participate in rolling the ready made dough into balls to put into pans. Bread sells for $7.00 each and goes really well with a cup of Greenwell Farms Coffee...Splurge for the Peaberry grade coffee.
