We stayed at the Belle Vue Waimea in July 2004. When we checked in there was a cockroach convention breaking up. Truth be told, we got there before the acceptable check in time so the cleanup had not occurred. Gayland, our host, was recuperating from a hip operation and tried courageously to make our stay enjoyable. Because my wife found the place to be filthy, we would not be going back. His lovely son entertained our girls and shared both his dog and cat with them. Once again the name implied the place’s best feature. Gayland has been in the area and shared his experience generously with us. He hit homeruns with each and every suggestion. Restaurants such as Waimea Ranch House; Aloha Angel Café; Daniel Thiebalit were excellent albeit pricey.
