I had been here before with my mother and father in law and decided to take a large group there that had come for a wedding. We had a wonderful evening and everyone said it was great. It is a beautiful drive up to the ranch and we all drove separate cars. The entertainment was great, the food was great, and there is some fun activites as well. We had an age range of 9 to 75 and there was something to offer everyone and there was enough space to get a chance to talk to each other and socialize. All in all a great eveing and working with Sue Floats was easy, straight forward, and she made us all seem totally welcome.

Never even got close to any livestock, except for Pigley Wigley but she's too old and fat now to do tricks as advertised, she just makes a cameo appearance.

Jack the solo musician is very good instrumentally. .

The steak had good flavor but was grisly. The rest of the meal was average, about what you'd expect at a ranch Bar BQ.

The owners (Big John, Raymond and his wife) are genuinely fun people and the atmosphere is very hospitable and relaxed. But we didn't do or see anything resembling 'life on the ranch'. This experience is WAY over-promoted and over-priced by Expedia, not worth the 3 hour bus ride.

We recently spent a delightful evening at the beautiful Kahua Ranch. It was a wonderful time enjoyed by forty of us. The coach picked us up at our hotel and the driver pointed out things of interest all along the route on the way to the ranch - we learned alot. At the ranch we were greeted by a friendly group of ranch hands who just couldn't do enough for us to make the night special. The music, the dinner, the beverages and all of the "ranch" type experiences were terrific. We learned to lasso, roasted marshmellows, line danced, had a sing-along, branded a shingle, and just relaxed and watched the phenominal sunset. We felt like we really were part of a working ranch for a few hours. I'd recommend this venue to all.

This summer we started looking for rehearsal dinner ideas. It was difficult because we were coming in from California and wanted everything to be ready for Friday evening. We were so fortunate to have found the Kahua Ranch. From the minute I called Sue Foat(the person who set it all up and also the host and singer), I knew everything would turn out great. The bus picked all fifty of us up from the Fairmont Orchid(right on time) and we had a enjoyable, informative ride up the mountain. Our bus driver was the best! Once we got to the ranch, we were amazed by the incredible views of the Big Island. We were greeted by all the welcoming ranch hands and immediately they started serving us endless drinks of Kona beer, wine, soda, coffee and making us all feel so welcome. We were then given a brief summary of what goes on at the ranch. The dinner of steak and chicken was delicious and the guitar and singing entertainment was so much fun. Sue even sang the Hawaiian wedding song. We line danced, learned to lasso, branded pieces of wood, played horseshoes, roasted marshmallows, looked at the stars and moon on the telescope, took pictures with the horse and the little doggies they have rescued We did our wedding speeches and danced and laughed when Piggly Wiggly came running out. I could go on and on about what a wonderful time we all had. There was something there for everyone and we didn't want to leave. I would highly recommend this place for wedding rehearsal dinners and all types of parties. Thank you Sue Foat for making this such a special night and thanks to all your wonderful staff for an evening in Hawaii that we will never forget.
