“Local buys”

This market is a long standing farmers and small merchant happening. The vendors range from veggies to soaps, solar power sources, honey, knife sharpeners, and much more! The food is great and prices reasonable. Parking could be a problem but isn't. Windy Waimea seems to keep the weather mild and few rain-outs. Dogs are allowed so far and sometimes
They are Bothersome underfoot. The other market in town bans dogs after one mauled a. Shopper. Good place to shop and rub shoulders with the locals. Fun place and very friendly.

“Great Breakfast!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 26, 2013

There are 2 Waimea Farmer's Markets held on Saturday. The first one opens at 7 and is outside of Waimea. This one has crepes and wonderful omelets.

The second one is in Waimea and has the best bakery. You can tell by the long line. We stocked up with coffee cake and pasteries, which we enjoyed the rest of the week for breakfast.

“Not too big, but not too small.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 5, 2012

Compared to some of the farmers' markets on the Big Island, the market at Waimea is only open on Saturdays, and does not feature a whole lot of fresh produce. There are a couple fruit/veggie stands, but not a huge selection, and prices are nothing to brag about.

Nonetheless, the Waimea market does feature a large selection of fresh baked goods (pastries, desserts, breads, etc.) and a wide variety of other home-made products (jams, honey, etc.). Look for a stand that has coconut macaroons! Mmmmm.

There are also a few vendors with local goods and crafts (gift ideas, and such).

If you happen to be in the area, I would highly recommend checking this market out on Saturday... but if you're not within a 30-45 minute drive, I would look elsewhere for a market on Saturday.

“Worth the Hour Drive From Kona”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 25, 2012

Our condo was in Kona, but a friend who used to live in Waimea said we had to visit this Farmers Market, so our first Saturday, we went. Just as our friend said, we had a wonderful breakfast with a bunch of friendly local folks. The farm fresh eggs benedict were delicious! We tasted samples of papaya, Kona coffee, locally made sausage, local goat cheeses and smoked sea salt. Before we left, we bought all the fruit, vegetables and goat cheese we needed for the week as well as some gift items, then, since we were so close, we drove on to Waipio Valley and took in the view. It was a wonderfully relaxing way to spend a Saturday morning on the Big Island.
