“Great local experience + best steak of the Big Island”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 18, 2013

We really never planned to eat here, but we were driving back to the coast from Mauna Kea at 9 pm and were desperate to find a place to have dinner. Called several places - everything was already closed or closing. And somebody was so kind to recommend The Red Water Cafe. It turned to be one of the best dinners we had on the Big Island. We were sat at the bar, and surely had a chance to get engaged into conversations with the locals. The food was absolutely delicious, prepared and served on the highest level. This place is serving food that could be served at an upscale restaurant. Minus white tablecloths plus fun local experience.

“Good Food, Enormous Portions!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 18, 2013

The food was really tasty but beware that the portions are four times the size of a normal meal! My husband and I each ordered woks (I got the tofu, he got the chicken). They were delicious! However, we couldn't even eat half of each that night. We brought the leftovers home, ate them for lunch the next day, and STILL didn't finish them! Crazy amount of food. Friendly staff and good place overall.

“The place for sashimi / sushi”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 17, 2013

Small but comfortable sushi bar and the sushi chef takes great care of his customers. Helps that the fish is excellent. Haven't tried items from regular dinner menu but place was busy late and many customers were locals celebrating an occasion. Fresh fish comes in on Fridays but we ate on Thurs and everything was excellent. Can order items from main menu at sushi bar which is also a plus. Highly recommended and will return regularly.

“BEST OF FRESHNESS”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 21, 2013

Great Staff, Freshest of food, freindly atmostpher.
We visited the Red Water Cafe in July and was suprised to see how busy it was on a Monday evening, even though they were busy the staff was on top of the sevice. We waited approx. 10 min. to be seated for our table and from there the service and food was spot on.
We started with the Fuji Roll, a tempura rol comprised of Shrinp, crab, avocado served with a spicy aioli and unagi sauce to die for. We then had the fresh fish of the night which was caught that dayFresh Ono with a Mango Vinaigrette which mango are in season at this time, light and not to dominating to overpower the fish. ending with the double chocolate tort with fresh rasberry sauce...all in all great service and food wish we could visit more often
