then Pau is the place for you. Not just thin, but super-thin. Almost like a cracker, in fact. They only make pizzas in one size: BIG. And they cut it into 12 slices. We only ate five, and had plenty of leftovers for another meal. They offer a small number of interesting combinations, and you can also build your own. Toppings were delicious, but for me, I like a pizza with some chewiness in the crust. And this wasn't it.

We also split a tasty "Vintners salad," which has spiced pecans, Gorgonzola (or maybe blue?) cheese, and sliced apple. The small size was plenty big enough to share. We saw the Caesar salad go by, and it also looked good.

Service was friendly and attentive. The atmosphere was typical Big Island. Not a huge place, but on a Thursday night there were a few tables open.

We enjoyed a number of lunches and suppers at this delightful place. The quality of ingredients are top notch and locally sourced, the service was fine, the atmosphere was cozy and all in all we enjoyed returning again and again during our stay.

We got back to NZ over a month ago after staying on the big island for a week. Yesterday one of the kids mentioned Pau ... It is still the best pizza in the world in their view... And it's not far behind in my view either.

What I really loved was the pizza and salad combo... Not too much pizza, and a really delicious salad from a selection that all looked appealing. My husband is not a pizza eater and was really happy to have alternatives that he really enjoyed, while the kids and I devoured pizza.

We ended up going to Pau almost Davey day during the week we were staying at hapuna. It was great value, and the service was laid back ... But in a good way.

Many thanks to all at Pau... You should be very proud of what you do.

Four of us stopped in for lunch on the recommendation of a local real estate agent. Although we did not try the pizza, the fish sandwich was excellent, as was the pesto. Deserts were satisfyingly rich. Friendly, prompt service and reasonable prices, especially for Big Island.

We stopped here based on a review in a guide book and the book was correct - the pizzas are outstanding, and b t w the volcano cheezy garlic bread is just great! Note for English visitors, an 18 inch pizza is about the size of a coffee table and you'll be taking half of it home for later. If you just want lunch go for the 1/4 pizza and salad, oh alright then, have the garlic bread too :)
