We stayed in this lovely B&B just for a night at the Moon room. Jacqueline is a fabulous host. She has been in this business for 25 plus years and it shows. The rooms are so comfortable that you instantly feel at home....She has a very good collection of books and DVDs. But, the best part of our stay was the breakfast....she is a very good baker and a cook. The breakfast had a lovely spread of fresh tropical fruits, local jams and honey and butter....breads, oats, french toast and some delicious sausages, juice, tea and Kona-coffee :)

By far this is the best B&B i have stayed and I am sure to return.

Room Tip: Ask Jacqueline for her garden tour, she has some beautiful orchids.

My husband and I recently had the pleasure of returning to Waipio Wayside as a part of our honeymoon trip. Jacqueline was, as always, an incredible hostess who showered us with hospitality and delicious breakfast. She is a fabulous cook and baker-- and a pleasure to chat with about the island! We stayed in the recently and beautifully renovated Bird's Eye room and it was gorgeous. We highly recommend Waipio Wayside to anyone traveling on the Big Island. It is the perfect getaway and home base for exploring Waipio Valley and the Hilo side of the island and we hope to return often.

Room Tip: All of the rooms are beautifully and individually furnished and the bathrooms are all clean and upda...

This was our second visit with Jacqueline, at her beautiful B & B, and once again, we found it relaxing and welcoming. Attention to detail, and making sure that product selections are of the highest quality, as well as breakfasts and even the laundry, done to the highest standard. In addition, the desire to connect her visitors to what would be great for them is the high hallmark which Jacqueline sets for herself as innkeeper. We will return in the future!

Room Tip: Our room, 'The Moon Room', was most economical, but not as private or convenient as the othe...

I have traveled the world and have stayed in some of the most beautiful, high end and popular places you can imagine, but after all of these years of traveling I have managed to be blown away by the Waipio Wayside B&B. A small cottage off the beaten path in Honokaa, HI, but dont let that fool you. Jacqueline the owner and Innkeeper makes sure that your experience at her B&B is special and tranquil. She ensured that every detail of my stay was taken care of to perfection. The home was immaculately decorated, clean, beautifully situated and with great energy. She is an amazing story teller of Hawaiian history and makes an all organic breakfast and pastries that will blow your mind. I would recommend Waipio Wayside to anyone that want to come and be pampered, venture around the Hamakua Coast and come home to a relaxing and restful environment. You will not regret it! Make you way over to the Waipio Wayside and experience it for yourself! I promise you if a New York City guy like me can find no wrong and completely relaxed after 1 day of being there. Anyone can! Thank you Jacqueline for a wonderful and best experience I have ever had!

Room Tip: The Library room was just amazing!

My husband and I don't often stay at B&B's, so we had little to compare this one to as we began our Big Island adventure...But, by the time we were done with our circumnavigation of the island we had a real appreciation for the attention Jacqueline paid to every single detail to make our stay at the Waipio Wayside both enjoyable and authentic. The room & decor were delightful, the beds comfortable, sheets and towels soft and generous. And I love going to sleep to the sound of the frogs at night and waking to the songs of the birds in the morning.

But it was the breakfast that knocked our socks off: fresh lilikoi, papaya, and starfruit, the most delicious French toast ever with lilikoi butter from the farmer's market, chicken/apple sausage, and Anahola granola (worth flying to Hawai'i for) with fresh, Greek yogurt. It was above and beyond anything we had anywhere else. You take your meal at a big table with the other guests which makes it all the more enjoyable as you share stories about your various plans and adventures.

Jacqueline is full of useful information about her island home and clearly passionate about it and her business.....and after 26 years she has it down.

We'd stay there again in a heartbeat.

We really enjoyed our stay with Jacqueline at Waipio Wayside B&B. The house is cozy and comfortable and she is well-informed and enthusiastic about the Big Island, farmers markets, local restaurants etc. She's also well-traveled and has decorated her house with antiques and furnishings that reflect her love of Asia, particularly Japan. The location is excellent for exploring the Hamakua coast and just a short drive to good restaurants in Waimea. Jacqueline's breakfasts were so good and healthy that we rarely felt hungry before dinner. We checked out the room that the Calgary reviewer called "smelly'' and smelled nothing unusual. The room itself was one of the best ones in the house, but all were very nice.
