This is the place for golfers visiting the "Big Island" (Hawaii), who want a break from the pretense and prices of "resort golf". Turns out that this old course (built in 1928) with its small greens and shaggy fairways is both a legitimate challenge and pleasure to play. You can stop by for a $2 beer ($3 for an import) when the Club House is open and check it out, but if you come to play get ready for some exercise! There are no motorized carts and some pretty steep hills; perfect for those looking to work off that extra helping from last night's buffet.
Fees are: Adults $15 for all day golf privileges, players 17 and under golf for free with an accompanying adult (up to 2 per adult). If the Club House is closed, the honor system is in play, slide your money through a slot in the wall! Get there before noon if you want a chance to rent a mixed bag of used clubs for $5. Bring your own food or play nine, go to Tex's Drive In just up the road, and come back for nine more!
