You have topaz to get down the valley or beach or any other valley attraction. Only locals can drive down the entry road

Standing atop the overlook onto the Valley of the Kings was breath taking. Hiking down to see the water falls and the black sand beach was tough but well worth it. Remember to take some hiking poles with you because they are really needed.

Free. Easy. Simply beautiful view. Restrooms. Picnic tables. Parking on road (or few stalls). Wish there was more to see so easily after long drive from Waikoloa. Next time without our kids, we would hike into the valley to see more.

The view was beautiful from the lookout, and the drive was very scenic along the way. We were quite disappointed however, that despite us having a jeep wrangler and previous reviews mentioning the ability to drive down, that the road was marked (by a recently erected sign) as closed except for local traffic. They even had a guy monitoring at the beginning of the the trail to ensure no one is able to go down. Not sure if there were recent incidents with tourists or just the time of the year, but definitely disappointed after a long drive over.

Definitely worth the 16 mile roundtrip out and back from Highway 19, even if you don't want to make the long hike down and back into the Valley. From the Lookout, it is breathtakingly beautiful! A great place to take in the glory of our world and ponder one's place in it.
