For those people who believe Hawaii is all about tourism, crowded hotels, swimming with dolphins, and drinks on the beach, please be advised that this "hale" (Hawaiian for Home) is probably not going to be the place for you. If instead you desire to see the true roots of Hawaii, the people, the beauty, and the nature of the islands then I strongly suggest that you take a trip to Hale Kukui. Tucked away on the remote north side of the island this rental was a true gem find. My girlfriend and I were amazed by the location, the privacy, and the pure beauty of the home. To say the least we were tired of the expensive hotels and costly dinners and looked to get away. Hale Kukui answered that problem. We found ourselves in a clean, quite getaway with a host who was more then willing to share everything with us (the true part of Hawaii is the openness of their people) and yet gave us plenty of privacy when needed. In fact, we barley saw or heard anyone except for the kindly dog "Popo", who joined us for our daily walks around the beautiful property (equipped with a refreshing stream and fantastic fruit orchard) Alas, when the time came to leave we found ourselves not wanting to return to the tourist ridden hotels whence we had come. P.S The view is jaw dropping.
