The Cafe came highly recommended by the local B&B so we gladly accepted when they offered to make dinner reservations there on our behalf. We arrived promptly for our 7:45 reservation and waited about 5 minutes to be seated. After another 10 minute wait, our server came to take our order so we requested a nice bottle of wine and an appetizer. When we told her we would order our main course after having some of our wine, she very politely told us the kitchen closes at 8:00. The food we ordered took approximately 45 minutes and was okay, but nothing special. I ordered the roasted pork and had trouble finding the pork on the plate. The special ribeye was tasty, but probably not worth the price. All in all, I'd be hesitant to go again unless I had no other choice.

It has become our tradition to eat at the Holuakoa Cafe on our last night on the Big Island. We love the atmosphere ... sitting outside under sparkly lights, listening to the frogs, enjoying the cool night air. But the best part of all is the food! On our most recent visit we had the tenderloin and the tuna. Both were superbly prepared and with just the right accompaniments. Five stars!
One tip: Bring a light sweater; it can get cool later in the evening.

The Holuakoa Cafe is located in the small art village of Holualoa. The meal was so good we cancelled the following night's dinner reservation at another restaurant and returned. Try the fresh avocado salad, soooo delicious. The Ahi steak served rare was outstanding. The garden fresh salads and vegetables are from local gardens. The second night I ordered the filet and was prepared perfectly. Outside seating offers a nice sunset and a relaxing atmosphere. Some may report the service is slow but we were more than happy to take our time and not be rushed. Can't say enough good things about this local restaurant.

We were recommend to this restaurant by the b and b we were looking at. Hard to find...look for the pink inn and it's across the street behind the gardens. Lunch was wonderful. We had a fritatta, french toast and hamburgers. Every dish was fabulous. We especially loved the fact the food is locally grown/raised. We decided to have dinner here the next night before we left the island. Dinner was better than lunch. The tomatoes on the caprese salad were the best we have every had! We complimented the waiter and he admitted he grew them himself! 3 of us split 2 salad, 2 entres (lobster pasta and steak), but we drew the line at sharing desserts. Service was friendly and excellent. This is well worth the drive from Kona or points north.
