You need a car to get there from downtown hilo, but it is worth the short drive. To really enjoy it you have to climb over the rocks to get to the waterfalls. But be careful!!!

This location is about 5 minutes away from the Rainbow Falls. So if you're in the area I would say why not check it out but it's certainly not a destination.

The view is approx a 3 min walk from your car on a flat even surface so people with limited mobility or wheel chairs can easily get there. But honestly there's just not a lot to see- just a stream through a ravine. It also smells really rank. Perhaps the water level is too low? Don't know.

There is a restroom there and it's free so that helps.

I think that, perhaps, September is not the optimum time of the year to visit either the Rainbow Falls or the Boiling Pots. At least the waterfall at Rainbow was still pretty, although no rainbow, however the "Boiling Pots" were not even simmering! The sign in the parking lot cautions you to remove anything from sight within your car, that there are frequent break-ins. That never inspires confidence, does it?

The park, when lushly green during rainy seasons must be pretty spectacular, but it surely wasn't on this trip. Go if not too far out of your way, but during dry weather this park can surely be crossed off the list.

A must see during rainy season. Down the street from the boiling pots. Take water and snacks. It can get warm and it will rain, but great place to visit.
