“Market for fresh foods and gifts”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 7, 2013

Every Wednesday and Saturday the farmers market located on the corner of Hilo Bayfront offers great deals on unique souvenirs as well as local fruits and vegetables. Check out white pineapple, a real treat! Local artisans sell their special products, many of which are unique to this island. If you have access to a refrigerator, stock up on fresh foods and enjoy eating there as well. Specialties range from island salsas to fresh bagels!

“Good way to spend a saturday morning”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 29, 2013

The hubby and I went early on a Saturday morning so that it would be easier to find parking nearby. The market is divided into two sides- foods and goods. Lots of fresh produce and artisanal items from jams to baked goods. Unique handcrafts and knick knacks, great gifts on the other side. If you have the patience to walk through it, you’ll find some good pieces. It’s a quick walk unless if you like to dawdle.

“Local, fresh, amazing variety!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 27, 2013

We timed our trip just to be sure we could make it to this Farmer's Market and get fresh organic provisions for the rest of our trip. And we're so glad we did. The local farmers are present and ready to share all about their products, give samples and explain what some items are that we mainlanders have never seen before. Loved it all.

“Boy was there a lot going on!”

We were able to buy some great cheap souvenirs plus fresh produce. Definitely a Saturday morning stop (but go early - it gets hot and crowded - opens at 6AM)

“Worth the drive to Hilo”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 22, 2013 via mobile

It is about 2.5 hours from Kona to the Hilo market. Easy drive if you use the north roads coming and going. Lots to see including the botanical gardens en route. The Hilo market has a great selection of produce and flowers for only five dollars for a vase
