Hilo is a bit of an industrial town rather than a tourist town in Hawaii, so it does not have a lot of Fancy restaurants. Cafe Pesto is probably one of the best in the area for dinner. It does a good job of incorporating seafood into Italian dishes. I had a seafood over risotto which was delicious, but the best item was actually the appetizers. It was a tortilla chip with a shrimp and sauce baked onto it. Doesn't sound like much but it was delicious.
As a side note the views out the front of the restaurant are great you can watch the waves break over the sea wall.
