“AMAZING TOUR!!!”
Reviewed January 7, 2013

Our tour was amazing. We were not sure what to expect and we were very pleasantly surprised! Our tour guide Auntie Karen was amazing and her knowledge, patience and stories were priceless. It was like driving around with your family and getting a tour from an old friend. We had a small group (12 people) so it was easy in to the van and easy out - I loved the fact that Auntie Karen spotted two sea turtles basking in the sun and then stopped so we could take pictures, the accessibility of many of the locations was awesome too, we got to walk around the Japanese garden and learn about how Auntie Karen's family spends time in all of the places we stopped. I would highly recommend this tour to everyone - we liked the local flair given to this tour and would take it again in a heartbeat. Mahalo!

“Good times :)”
Reviewed December 30, 2012

We had a really good time on this tour. This was our first trip to Hawaii so we had to see the volcanos. The island tour was great and seeing the volcanos was really interesting. Our tour guide was a little old guy from the big island and really knew a lot about everything. it was too bad rainbow falls wasnt flowing, but i guess its a winter time thing. we gave this tour 5 stars. My suggestion, bring a bottle of water and a light jacket as you never know if you might get a bit of rain.

“Did not meet expectations”
Reviewed December 28, 2012

Having booked with this company on other islands, I expected the same quality of experience. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. Island Marketing Ltd. uses sub-contractors. So buyer beware.

The old guy driving the van was open to listening to the group's requests, but he also went on about how the Hawaiian's were taken advantage of. We know the history; we aren't proud of it, but dude.... we're here on vacation, spending our money, paying your salary. The least you can do is act like we're not impinging on your lifestyle. Yes, he was knowledgeable, but he could have spent more time with his clients than he did with his cronies at our stops. At one stop, the chocolate shop in Hilo, he kept us waiting because there was this other guy he hadn't talked to for a while. At another, the orchid farm, he was buying his Christmas presents. Hello? Professionalism? Strike one.

After our first stop, I inquired about getting a drink of water. Old Dude said, "There will be an opportunity to buy water in a few stops." Pardon me, but not providing water to your clients in a tropical climate is a major faux pas. Strike two.

He took us to Rainbow falls which was a total waste of time because the falls weren't running and he knew that before we got there. In fact, he expounded on the cronyism of the city fathers and the electric company; conspiring against the tourists and locals. Strike three.

A black sand beach was touted as an attraction. The "beach" couldn't have been more than 20-feet-wide! Really? When someone tells me they are taking me to a beach, I expect a freakin beach! Strike four. Man... we hadn't even gotten out of Hilo!

The rest of the trip wasn't so bad. We stopped at Kilauea Iki, the lava tube, the steam vents, and Kilauea, including the museum. Heading back to Hilo, we stopped at the Mauna Loa macadamia farm/factory, which was just a tourist trap designed to suck up what tourist dollars you had at the end of the day.

However... the excursion advertising said that we would have the "opportunity to buy lunch." Unless I'm mistaken, that means that somewhere between 11:30 and 1:30 we will be able to buy food somewhere. That didn't happen. We got to the macadamia factory around 3:30 PM and there was a "snack bar" in the store. At that point... what's the point? The next stop was the ship where we could feast for free, and also, it was so close to dinner time, none of us wanted to spoil our dinner. Old Dude even had the nerve wto ask why none of us partook of the ice cream offered there.

Last strike of the day. I was never so glad to get back to my ship

“really great customer service”
Reviewed December 21, 2012

We took this tour as a private tour and I have lots of good things to say about these guys. Unknown to us, our ship had changed our port times for our cruise, and this company s took the time to contact us and let us know about the changes to our cruise and re-confirmed a new tour time for us. They took care of us before we were even notified that our cruise had been changed, i dont know how they knew before we did, but they did. on the day of our tour, we found our guide easily as we got off the ship. Our guide totally let us set the pace, if we wanted to stay longer at a spot, we did. Our guide also asked us if we wanted to spend an extra hour on the tour for free, and since we had time, we got a 6 hour tour instead of a 5 hour tour, for no extra charge. Really great customer service guys, thank you for a great tour!

“really cool AND a really great guide”
Reviewed December 17, 2012

Hawaii was awesome and the volcanos were really cool! This was our second cruise but the first time booking not booking our tours with the ship and everything went smoothly. Our tour guide was super friendly and explained everything we saw on the tour. We were back to the cruise ship terminal a few hours before our ship departed so we were never worried about being back on time. we paid $70 each and that included the park fees; it was a great day. This was the best price tour we took for our cruise.
