“Comfortable stay”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 12, 2014

This hotel is a holdover from the 1950's and somewhat tired but it is still a comfortable place to stay. They have updated the rooms and although the furniture is nice, it is anything but tropical. The oceanview rooms are worth any additional cost. The view from the balcony is lovely. The restaurant has good buffet dinners on the weekends. There are some interesting things to do nearby within a short walk. Lots of tour groups come here. There are laundry facilities which are an added bonus.

Room Tip: Ask for an oceanview room.

This hotel is exactly what you would expect for the price: clean, quiet, and convenient. It's a good hotel to stay at if you arrive on a later flight into Hilo or want a jumping off point for exploring this side of the island. The only downside was the large number of tour groups that were there when we were.

Stayed here with our toddler - good accommodation but not outstanding. Restaurant nice. Location alright if you have a rental car otherwise a bit of a walk to town. Wifi is only available for free in the lobby which is a bit of a pain when you have a small child to try and keep amused. Would stay here again.

A a good value Hotel stay on the Big Island. The Hotel has done a complete refurbish on the rooms bringing it up to current standards. When checking in during a weekday ask for an Oceanview upgrade, you'll probably get one (forget the weekends).

Room Tip: Also ask for the 6th or 7th floor, as well as Ocean/Bay side.

Stayed here for 3 days and came in with pretty low expectations but have no complaints. It is in a good location and a good base for exploring the east side of the big island. Free wifi in the rooms would be an improvement. The room we had was a corner and was quite big.
Only ate once in the hotel and we really enjoyed the buffet. There was a decent selection and the food was good. I only tried the white wine but I thought it was very good quality considering it was all you could drink. Way way better than the gutrot they serve at some all inclusive places like Iberostar GH paraiso in Mexico for example.

This is a big hotel which clearly caters for large numbers of bus parties on an ongoing basis. It is located in a beautiful spot at the end of Hilo bay in Banyon Drive and is perfect for all the things you may want to see or do around the Hilo area. Our room was very large and spacious, and very clean and comfortable. All rooms have balconies, either a bay view at greater price or the street view which is fine especially the higher up you go. In spite of the business of the hotel, it was very quiet once inside the room.
Wifi is only free in the reception lounge on your own device. Other than that you have to pay for it.
Meals in the restaurant were pretty expensive so we never ate there.

Room Tip: As high up as you can and the bay view if you can afford it!!!!!
