Wished I could have stayed longer exploring this museum. Some great info on past tsunamis that impacted Hilo as well as a bunch of info on other tsunamis in other locations.

“So you think you know About tsunamis....”
Reviewed March 15, 2014

Don't let a bit of rain slow down your exploration of Hilo and surrounding area. Put aside an hour or two and take in this very informative and enlightening museum. Wonderful historic photos, well written accounts of the various tsunamis and earthquakes, first person stories of survival and there is good video you can watch in the little 'vault' theatre. There is an introductory talk and you can ask questions, then it's pretty much a self guided tour. The layout is nicely done.
When you have finished, the rain will have stopped, because it never seems to last for long, and off you go out into the sunshine.

“Interesting and Imformative”
Reviewed March 11, 2014

We spent a couple of hours exploring this museum, great displays, great pictures and it gives you a greater understanding of the numerous Tsunami's that have hit Hawaii. A small admission fee, but well worth spending a bit of time here

“Nice Local Museum”
Reviewed March 10, 2014

Dedicated to Tsuamis especially in Hilo it is a very nice spot located in an old bank. It is run by volenteers and there were a number on hand and all very helpful. It is an inexpensive way to spend the morning after a nice walk from the hotels.

Only $8 admission.

“Informative”
Reviewed February 28, 2014

Found the museum informative and well presented. Most will be much more informed on what tsunamis are all about.
