“Nice view”
Reviewed April 9, 2014

It's okay but there are better waterfalls to view. If your driving around the island it's worth a stop but don't go out of your way. Park outside (on the road) the small parking lot or pay $5 if there's space.

“Nice but...”
Reviewed April 6, 2014

We paid the $5/parking and $1/per person to see the falls and took the shorter path. The walk was nice, well manicured. Along the way the foliage and fauna were gorgeous.. Once arriving at the falls they are a fair distance away. They are nice but not spectacular. We live in Oregon and in comparison I feel ours are much nicer. Therefore I felt for us it was a bit of a waste. However, if this is not something you have at home and have easy access to then you would certainly enjoy the walk and seeing the falls. I just wish they got you a bit closer to the falls.

“Don't miss this”
Reviewed April 3, 2014 via mobile

WOW! This was breathtaking. The path between the two main waterfalls was beautiful. It's hard to not just stop and relax and enjoy the tranquility around you. If you go to the Hilo side you can't miss this.

“Nice Stop...Fairly Easy Walk to see the Falls”
Reviewed April 1, 2014

This was a nice walk to see the Falls. We turned to the right first and headed to Kahuna Falls. The walk was a bit steep and had quite a few steps but paved and had railings. The view was ok but not "spectacular". The falls were quite a distance away. If you have time to do both pathways while you are there it is definitely worth doing but the more spectacular view is the one of Akaka Falls. It is much shorter walk and even though there are steps it is pretty easy to do for people of most physical abilities. We parked in the parking lot and paid the $5.00 fee but if you really want to avoid the fee, the parking outside the main parking area is not far at all and will save you money. We were here for about 45 minutes and were able to see both falls.

“Nice little walk”
Reviewed March 31, 2014

A nice half mile walk that is paved with excellent stairs and hand rails. With a decent view of Kahuna falls and a amazing view of Akaka Falls. We drove to this site and easily found it as it is well marked with decent parking, it cost $5 per car in the lot or $1 per person if you park outside the lot which is about 30 extra yards away which we did because its a small lot. There is a diverse amount of vegetation to observe and a few other minor falls. A pretty walk that has many stairs that persons with knee issues may have problems with but saw many elderly couple traverse the whole walk with no issue. The shops that you pass on the way into the falls are worth stopping at as it is actual local art and not a lot of junk with some of the best prices we encountered on the Big Island for souvenirs. We found the owners of the Purple Eye particularly friendly and great selection uniquely Hawaiian gifts.
