“Nice and Easy”
Reviewed March 24, 2013

We visited Akaka Falls after a full day of hiking Waipio Valley and were exhausted but walked to the falls with ease. It was a nice, easy, paved pathway through the rainforest. A very enjoyable trek.

“Excellent Waterfall & Scenic Walk”
Reviewed March 24, 2013

This is a nice waterfall & I'd recommend taking the time to see if. Unlike some waterfalls there is a pay to park lot that costs $5. It's still worth the the minimum cost, with a paved path to walk the grounds to the falls. Actually, there's 2 routes, 1 the direct walk to the falls & the 2nd to see the vegetation & flowers around the falls.

“Super falls and hiking trail”
Reviewed March 24, 2013

These falls are worth taking a short hike to through a lush rain forest vegetation.

There is a parking lot with restrooms. If you park in the lot it costs you $5 to hike to the falls. Most people park on the road outside the posted parking lot and pay only $1.The falls and hike are worth either price.. .

“Nice diversion!”
Reviewed March 23, 2013

Tourist attractions north of Hilo are not numerous. There is a nicely preserved 19th century Hawaiian village center on drive to Akaka Falls. The falls is beautiful though a bit of a hike from the pay ($5) parking lot. Very popular.

“gorgeous waterfall”
Reviewed March 22, 2013

The trail to the waterfall is a little over a mile roundtrip if I remember correctly. I do remember it as paved and easy and I'm over 50 years old. There isn't much diversity on the way but the waterfall is worth the walk. It's 442 feet tall. We parked outside the gate and it was free parking. Inside the gate there was a $5.00 oper car fee. I think they also wanted a dollar or two donation.
