“Great time at the Bay House”

Came here with a couple of friends and we could not have had a better time! Beautiful rooms, good food, and the comfort of home. It is great to be close to everything Hilo has to offer. I will definitely stay here again!!

My friends and I have stayed at The Bay House a few times now and we hope to go back very soon! We absolutely love the B&B in every way. We have stayed in all 3 rooms and each one has their own unique decor. We love sitting on the private porches and enjoying the view of the bay. The B&B is right on the bay and you have access to relaxing hot tub overlooking the ocean. The breakfast is a healthy variety of fruits, cereal, oatmeal, and eggs. They even provide snacks and supplies to bring a sack lunch.
Tina is a wonderful host, she is so helpful and we were able to do so many fun activities because of her advice. The location of The Bay House is also perfect for getting the Hilo experience. My friends and I walked to the town center everyday. We went to open markets and biked all over the city, stopping at beautiful black sand beaches.
Staying at The Bay House is one of our favorite parts of visiting the big island. After a long day of exploring the island it is so nice to have a comfortable and relaxing place to come home to. Staying at The Bay House truly makes every visit to Hawaii special and we recommend it to everyone visiting the islands.

We spent a weekend here! Immaculate, tastefully decorated rooms, spacious bath--as good, if not better, than the comfort of my own home. Breakfast was simple (fruit, pastry, coffee/tea, cereal, etc.). Guest area has a large lanai, fridge and other amenities, including a hot tub, which is perfect overlooking the bay with a bottle of wine. We'll definitely stay here again if we get a chance to return to the Big Island!

We found The Bay House to be comfortable and convenient for visiting the Hilo area. We came in after dark, but our hostess was there to greet us. The room was a bit stuffy at first, but opening the sliding glass door to the large veranda made quite a difference. There was quite a bit of noise from the Coqui frogs that live in the lush vegetation that surrounds the inn, but the management thoughtfully provided earplugs and the frogs stopped their racket around midnight.

Breakfast was set out for us every morning. All we needed to do was open our door and go into the kitchen area a few steps away. We ate on the veranda. There seemed to be no prohibition on bringing food into the rooms. A refrigerator was provided in the kitchen area for guests' food and drink as well as provisions for the inn.

This is a rather "hands-off" B&B, which was just fine with us. The hostess was there when you needed her, but she didn't spend a lot of time with the guests. We would definitely stay here again

Room Tip: There are only three rooms. Look at them online and make your choice.

We loved staying at the Bay House! Sitting in the lanai for breakfast was great, with a beautiful view of the harbor. Tina went out of her way to make our stay special, and offered great tips on places to see. Being so close to town was very convenient.

Breakfast included eggs, fruits, banana bread, toast, and several cereals to choose from. There are juices too. We were able to use the refrigerator to store some things we bought at the grocery store for dinner & snacks. There is also a microwave available.

There is a hot tub, but we did not use it. No fitness center, but there are plenty of places to hike!

We recommend visiting Hilo, and highly recommend staying at the Bay House (we'd give more than 5 stars if we could)! Thanks to Tina for everything!

Room Tip: We stayed in the Harbor room, which has a great view of the ocean & harbor. We got to peek into...

Thank you Tina! I had a great stay at your B&B. I appreciated the toasted banana bread, eggs, sausage, and papaya for breakfast. Also, that was probably the closest I've ever slept to the ocean. I had a charming stay.

Room Tip: The Harbor Room has the widest view of the bay. The Bay Room has a view of a magnificent tree on th...

A lovely B&B with a lanai on the bay for each of the three rooms. Nicely decorated with a pleasant but not fawning hostess, we thoroughly enjoyed our five nights. Yes, the tree frogs sang us to sleep each night, but every place on the bay in Hilo will have them. The only thing I might have wished to be different was the unvarying breakfast menu. It was a lovely meal, but each day was the same egg/sausage/potato casserole. The fresh papaya and pineapple was always a treat, and there were varying types of sweetbreads. The guests have access to a refrigerator and toaster with bread and toppings 24/7, If you stay five nights, the fifth night is free!

Room Tip: One of the three rooms is at the end of the hall and has windows on three sides, giving it better ai...
