Great menu with imaginative sushi combos as well as the traditional. We didn't even order sushi but, instead, shared the tenderloin that was excellent. Excellent service even tough the place was crowded. On Monday nights the only other real restaurant in town is closed so Sushi Rock is VERY busy that night; reservations strongly recommended.

“Unexpected delectables”
Reviewed November 12, 2013

We stumbled across this gorgeous little sushi place yesterday after finding the other cafés in town too busy or just not appealing! The staff were so gorgeous and friendly and happy, that their sunny outlook was contagious. The gourmet food offered was truly inspired and mouth watering even before we got to taste it. We were even more delighted once we got to eat. Everything was perfectly presented and freshly prepared. It was a highlight of our touring day and well worth the drive to have found sushi Rock.
As well as superb food to satisfy us the restaurant displays work of local artists which was fun to view.
The amenities were a little sub par but in keeping with the bohemian atmosphere.

“Their daily specials are amazing!”
Reviewed October 31, 2013

We visited sushi rock last week and we go here every trip to the big island. we always go with the special sushi item and this time we also tried their special salad which was amazing with fresh grown sweet strawberries and goat cheese. Delicious!! Drinks are always good too and Peter and his staff provided wonderful service as always. we think it's the best sushi on the island and the most inventive sushi we have ever had anywhere! See you next time!

“Best seared ahi ever!”
Reviewed October 29, 2013

We did not expect this in tiny little Hawi! But this was some of the best sushi we've ever had. The toughest part was deciding what to order. My hubby had the Kohala inside-out roll with ahi poke, papaya, & cucumber rolled in mac-nuts and I had the Bombay sunset........with ahi poke, curry slaw, Fuji apple and even more ahi on top! Definitely worth a trip......

“Good steaks”
Reviewed October 23, 2013

If someone in your group is demanding sushi and you've been trying to dodge it, take them here. Why? Because the steak is amazing. Local grass-fed beef is cooked to perfection. I don't know why a sushi restaurant cooks a better steak than most steakhouses, and I don't care! Of course the sushi is also amazing, after all that's what made this place famous. If you're a sushi fan and you like steaks, then you'll really be in heaven here. It's a small restaurant so be sure to make a reservation.
