If you find yourself on the Big Island of Hawaii up on the north end of the island in Hawi Town you MUST go and see Peter and his staff. My wife and I were treated to one of the finest sushi experiences that we have had the pleasure to enjoy. Peter also was the first in our twenty five years of eating sushi to introduce us to REAL natural wasabi in the form of Hawaii grown wasabi root. This root was ground up right in front of us and served with their delectable fine fresh fish. This is just an incredible place and the smiles and good service abound. Do not miss Sushi Rock for a very fine gastronomic experience..

“Fantastic! Best Sushi I ever had.”
Reviewed July 3, 2011

The variety was great. There was traditional rolls and many with island flair. They all sounded good, so we got the combination plate. Fantastic! We even applauded the chef. My boyfriend, who doesn't care for shusi even said it was very good and guess who had to grab the last piece. Wish I could make the sauce that was drizzled on top. It was a great compliment to the rolls.

“Super Sushi!”
Reviewed June 21, 2011

We couldn't decide between here and another restaurant in Hawi but we were really happy we chose to eat here. We had Iced Tea, the Spicy Ahi Roll, and the Cap'n Crunch Roll (so yummy!). Then our waitress offered us "pure wasabi" which was amazing. Well worth the extra cost. It was all so good I can't say enough. The restaurant itself is tiny and you have to leave the building and go down the block and around a corner down an alley to use the bathroom. But if you don't mind that you will really enjoy the meal! We also tried the mac nut pie for dessert which was a much better version of pecan pie.

“Best meal EVER!”
Reviewed May 25, 2011

Wow! My husband and I used to live about 45 minutes from Sushi Rock and so we would go for dinner regularly and we truly loved it. We moved to Maui 3 years ago and hadn't made it back to Big Island since the move. Last night we went there for dinner and we just couldn't believe how amazing every bite was....We had the special of the night, an inventive fish, greens, goat cheese roll with mango on top, and it was an 11 out of 10! We kept on ordering and each entree and roll was just as good--and this is where SR excels--with such a refreshing, delightful twist. Honestly, we are working on getting them to open a Sushi Rock over here on Maui....We will be back again and again and again!
