“Best barbecue pork sandwich we have ever had”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 20, 2013

recently driving around the Big Island and loved Hawi area. Stopped at the Bamboo Restaurant for lunch.. chose the Hawaiian barbecue pork sandwich with pineapple coleslaw... to our surprise, this was absolutely hands down the best barbecue pork sandwich we've ever had. Coleslaw was really good as well. Sadly, we didn't have room for dessert. Recommend this place...think I read in one of the magazines that it is top-rated.... if we would have had time, I would have driven all the way back to Hawi from Kona just to eat there again the next day....it was that good.

“Quaint restaurant”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 11, 2013

Stopped here for lunch. Food was delicious and they have the best Pina Colada. Service was wonderful and there is a cute gift shop inside the restaurant. The building is historic. I would definitely return here the next time I visit the Big Island.

“Great stop for lunch”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 9, 2013

Hawi is a quaint, but expensive, little town on the road to the Popolu lookout. Its filled with art galleries and antiques. As we were simply looking to have lunch and not shop, we were quite pleased to stop here. There is a parking lot on the back and plenty of seating with no wait. There is a small gift shop inside. It is a historical building, sort of like an Old West saloon/hotel. The staff is exceptionally friendly and accomodating, stopping by constantly to bring more water and see if you need anything further. The food was very tasty and the drinks were very good.

“Very Tasty!”

This place was a very pleasant stopover on the way to the Pololu Valley Trail. Very fresh ingredients, along with brisk and friendly service. Good cheesecake too!
