“It was a blast!”

Purchased groupon for combination zip line, seaway, and week long pass as a two-for-one. Great deal and fun adventure! Zip lines were thrilling but not physically difficult. Segway was easy to control and a lot of fun. Throughout the tour, our guides pointed out various plants, trees, flowers, and fruits. We got to taste several different fruits and learn interesting botanical facts. The guides were fun and knowledgeable. Highly recommend this place and attractions!

“Soooo awesome!!!”
Reviewed May 4, 2014

From what i thought i knew about segways, I anticipated this was gonna be kinda lame. But this was so cool, so much fun! We were on the big island 10 days, did a ton of stuff (helicoptor ride, kayaking, snorkelling, hiking, night time manta ray snorkelling, volcano bike ride, ziplining, deep sea fishing) and honestly this may have been my favorite activity. Now these weren't just regular segways, these were kick butt off-road machines! None of us had any experience on Segways, but after a quick introduction and safety lesson decided to do the 180min "challenging" Hanapueo Tour with Myles as our guide. Myles was awesome! We started off nice and easy on
The road, went to check out a waterfall. After that He took us through trails (and non-trails) through the gardens, stopping to talk to us about the plants, their uses and lots of yummy fruit taste testing and guessing what the plants are by their scent. We didn't see any other people in this section of the garden. Afterwards he took us to the 'Segway arena' where we had some free time to fool around and race on our segways, haha.
Anyone who's reasonably coordinated can do this tour and I highly recommend it!!!

We had a great time on the 2 1/2 hour tour with Arlin, and had an extra treat with Dr Lani joining us. Thanks again for a great time!

“Good informative SEGWAY tour of the gardens. ”
Reviewed March 24, 2014 via mobile

My wife and I had a short tour, about 30 minutes, of the gardens with Alton, who did a great job of narration with lots of new info. This was an intro tour, there are longer ones. The Segway was easy to use. Had a nice stroll around the rest of the gardens after. Glad we did it. Not a large impressive garden, but thoughtfully conceived and with lots of tropical plants from all over the world and labeled for the most part.
We then drove up to the waterfall. A better waterfall is a few miles closer to Hilo. I think it is called Apapka, or something like that. Over 400 feet high, seen best with a 20 minute hike.

Aloha!

Mahalo for coming to see us. We appreciate that you chose to be our guest in the gardens. We hope you have a chance to come again as it sounds like you only had time for the introductory short Segway Tour. With that experience you will really enjoy the variety of longer Segway tours that we offer. It also sounds like you may have missed much of the rest of the gardens.

FYI - The lower gardens are over 25 acres and when coupled with the rain forest and Kamaee Falls we have hundreds of acres for our guests to roam. We have guests that come back over and over (ask about our memberships if you come back frequently) and say they never tire of seeing the changes in the gardens. Many say they never see the same things twice as the gardens change as the seasons change. It is a magical place.

Our gardeners spend everyday working hard to have a beautiful garden carved from the rain forest. They make it look easy, but there are a lot of acreage they are responsible to see is suitably groomed for our guests. We are glad you could appreciate that.

We have recently made a push to improve the signage on the plants in the gardens. We have over 1,000 species identified and are adding to that list every day. It has been estimated (as the gardens was developing) that we have over 5,000 unique plants in the gardens. We are out to label every one that is unique for our guests to appreciate the immensity of our collection.

You didn't mention the audio tour that is complimentary for a paid guests to the gardens. There are things you can only see if on the zip line tour and the Segway tour also goes to places and you experience plants that are not on our other tours. You will also have a great time with our Garden Director on a Directed Tour where he shares very cool secrets that he knows about the gardens, plants, history and more. The tours are truly one-of-a-kind views of the gardens. Of course we recommend our guests try them all, mostly because we have.

We hope you have a chance to come back and do the other ways of seeing the gardens. We change almost on a daily basis. We are constantly improving the gardens and labeling new areas and plants. We hope you will return to watch us grow (literally!).

A Hui Hou (come again soon)!!

“Who knew Segways could be so much fun”
Reviewed March 5, 2014

Just me and my wife went out with Arlen. After a short and excellent practice run in the parking lot we ventured off on our guided tour. We saw much of what Hawaii has to offer in the form of trees and plants, I frankly don't remember much of that, I just remember driving the Segway for 3 hours. It's a blast! Went through fields, trails, roads, up to the water falls and down through the rain forest. You can get a good speed going if you feel like it, or mozy along. No real bathrooms, just portables. My wife at on the road, the Segway road, sampling all the fruits and nuts we encountered on the tour. Expensive, but worth it if you don't have another opportunity to ride one.

Aloha!

Mahalo for coming to see us. We appreciate that you chose to be our guest in the gardens and on the Segways. They are very cool and you had an extraordinary charter tour - 3 hours is an amazing tour!

FYI - The Fotaflo photos are only available by group for the reason you mention. If we have to pay for the group (determined by the group shot at the start of the tour) and the group tries to pay for only one, we are left holding the bag. Fotaflo is a separate company that provides a great way to share photos from the tour immediately when arriving back at the sugarcane shack. They are sent electronically to everyone in your group. Everyone can share on Facebook, tweet or just email grandma their fun day at Botanical World Adventures.

We hope you have a chance to come back and do the other ways of seeing the gardens. We come up with new tours that provide cool new ways for us to share the gardens. The gardens change almost on a daily basis. We are constantly improving and labeling new areas and plants. We hope you will return to watch us grow (literally!).
