This marks my wife and my third visit to the Big Island of Hawaii. We happened to find this place on our first trip here nd have been hooked ever since. The banana bread isn't goo, it is great but be warned, you will forever be comparing all other banana bread to this place's products. Three kinds - original, chocolate chips and Macadamia nut. I prefer the original. If you decide to have banana bread once in your life, this is the place to have it. Go slow in the parking lot - they need to resurface it badly. Nice staff in the bakery. About 20-25 minutes from Kailua-Kona but worth it.

Mahalo for taking a moment to share your experience visiting our cafe and bakery!
We are happy you love our banana bread. One of the secrets is that it is made with local apple bananas which are ripened to perfection which bring out all the natural sugars.
Mahalo again and we hope to see you again on your next trip out to Hawaii!
Aloha,
Antoinette & The Up Country Ohana

Was a bit disappointed after friends had such great experiences here. The banana bread french toast is delicious (!!) but my warm fruit juice not so great. And that's waiting 15 minutes after we'd finished our meal, for our drinks to arrive. Also ordered something pre-made, from the display cabinet, which was brought to us after the drinks.. It wasn't heated etc, yet it took around 40/50 mins to put on a plate and bring to the table. A little confused by that one, but perhaps they had a number of phoned in orders that were keeping them busy. Hope it was a once off and that they can use this for positive change. Super friendly staff and again, epic banana break and other food I saw looked delicious, just be prepared to wait and hopefully we just had some bad luck.

This place is somewhat new and many locals go there all the time. The food is organic and vegan if you like. The staff is island friendly and the prices are very fair.

We went here because our friend told us banana bread was great. Well we were very disappointed it was dry and didn't taste anything like banana. We had bagel sandwiches with garlic cream cheese and those were very good. Son had carne asada burrito and he didn't like it. I tried a bite was ok but not great. Stick to anything bagel and you won't be disappointed. Also found cookies to be bland and just ok.
