“Beautiful and Quite”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 20, 2012

Great place to stay. Staff was excellent. Breakfast buffet was very good. Dinner menu was small but excellent. The ribeye steak was one of the best I've ever had. The room was big and comfortable. The views from the the inn were the best you'll ever have. Location to Yellowstone were as close as you'll find. Have a nice quite lounge for a drink after a long day's travel. Hat's off to YVI.

Room Tip: Get the room with the balcony, looks out over the river.

The inn is located in a strategical place 32 miles from east entrance of the park, and offers a very scenographic view of the valley. Rooms are located in nice double wooden bungalows, very clean and warm. The staff is really very kind and wifi connection is very fast.
Just consider kitchen closes at 20.30 and nearest place is 19 miles (Cody).

Glad you enjoyed your stay. We now keep the restaurant open until 10 during peak season and it's been an overwhelming success. Come see us again when you're in this area. Ron

I recently stayed at YVI for my second time - first time was a few years ago. My husband and I stayed with a few friends for a few nights in 2010. They stayed in a cabin and my husband and I stayed on the 2nd floor of the hotel. We arrived and were amazed by the view out of our room! It was overlooking the Shoshone River with the beautiful Shoshone mountain range behind it. We saw a beautiful rainbow that evening! When it came time to go on another Yellowstone trip (this time with my Mom and Grandma) I told them we absolutely must stay at YVI because of that view. Again, we spent two nights in a 2nd floor hotel room - and the view (and sound) of the river/mountains were amazing. We had long days exploring the east side of yellowstone so we didn't make it back in time before sunset but we still enjoyed sitting out on the deck and listening to the sound of the river in the evening.

I'd highly recommend staying here - both times we've stayed it was the only place we stayed more than one day. (We explored Yellowstone by starting on the east side and moving all the way around - two nights at YVI, one night in Jackson Hole, one night in West Yellowstone, one night in Gardiner, etc). The view is stunning and the complimentary breakfast was one of the best we had on our trip! The service at breakfast was oustanding - what a lovely woman - we highly enjoyed her. She remembered our beverage choices the next morning - she made us feel like family!

Fun side note - watch for buffalo! On the way back from Yellowstone at dark we were riding through Shoshone on our way back to YVI and saw a buffalo walking on the side of the road following the white line. It's pure darkness out there and that buffalo appeared out of nowhere. It was really fun to see, and a funny story to tell after! But whoa it sure surprised us! :-)

Room Tip: 2nd Floor Hotel root for an excellent view!

We parked our RV at YVI campground for a week while we explored Yellowstone and the surrounding Cody area. PROS: Great location, camping services were great. Kids loved the hot tub. The drive into Yellowstone East entrance is very pretty. Beautiful scenery and the sunsets were absolutely gorgeous. I think we saw "double rainbows" every night we were there. CONS: It says a "heated pool" but it was too cool for my liking. Was not impressed with the dinner at the Restaurant, too pricey for the food we got. Would have been a better choice to drive into Cody to eat.

Glad you liked the room. we keep our pool at 84 degrees. I learned at a recent Certified Pool Operator course most in Wyoming are running their pools at 80 degrees so I think we're trying to accomodate our guests. I know our restaurant serves some of the best food in Park County and every bit as good as anything found in Cody. Keep in mind food prices have risen dramatically in the last month and our menu prices haven't been raised to reflect those increases. Also our dinners include a wonderful salad bar which does add to cost. Thanks again for staying with us. Ron

There are a variety of options to…
There are a variety of options to accomodate all kinds of travelers. There are camping sites for trailers and tent campers, a lodge with traditional type rooms and cabins for others. We chose to stay in a cabin. Our cabin was clean, comfortable and very affordable.

We started our days with a wonderful breakfast in the cozy dining room. They serve a beautiful breakfast buffet included in the price of our cabin. The staff treated us like family and anticipated all our needs.

The Inn is conveniently located 18 miles west of Cody and about 30 miles east of the East entrance to Yellowstone. We spent several days in and around Cody. We went white water rafting, rock climbing, horse back riding on a dinner trail ride and into Cody for a rodeo. Cody has a great downtown shopping area with lots of restaurants.

We traveled into Yellowstone park 2 of our days and down to The Grand Tetons one day. The mountains were gorgeous.

Although the Inn also serves dinner, we only found time to eat there twice. Both meals were amazing. They also have a nice bar. We enjoyed spending time one evening getting to know some of the other guests and playing some pool. Our last night there was a Friday night and the bar came to life with the Kerioki singers.

We had a fabulous time and highly recommend The Yellowstone Valley Inn to anyone, young and old.

Thanks Ron & Kyla. We loved staying with you.

This place is 20 miles west of Cody, WY and 30 miles from the East entrance to Yellowstone. It sits in a beautiful valley with a river running behind the property. They have it all. Rvs, motel and cabins. We stayed in the motel. Clean and comfortable rooms with wifi. Open your sliding glass door and your view is off the river and the Shoshone mountains. If you are lucky enough to get a cloudless night, the sky is bright with stars as there are no other lights nearby!

The main building hosts a restaurant, coffee shop, saloon and lobby. Breakfast is included for cabin and motel guests. It is a self serve buffet with a variety of foods but in our 3 days here, they always had: eggs, hash browns, fruit, toast, and assorted cereals. They also had sausage, bacon, french toast, biscuits and gravy and pancakes on a rotating basis. A great way to start the day - with lots of fresh coffee and oj too. The waitress and waiter team were friendly and outgoing. I think they were a mother -son team. We felt right at home and were sad to leave.

We spent one night in the saloon where they have karaoke, pool and darts. Kids are welcome as well. Again, there is a family feel to this place that is unique.

The location cannot be beat if you want to stay close to Yellowstone and not spend a fortune. It is a 30 minute drive to get to the park but anything closer and you'd pay more than double the rates here. Also, Cody is 20 minutes in the other direction and is a great city on its own. We went river rafting with the Wyoming River Co one day, did the Rodeo one night and toured the historic district. This is one compact city with a lot of history and cowboy charm.

There are other amenities at the Yellowstone Valley Inn:

outdoor pool
indoor hot tub
coin laundry
affordable gift shop
Comfy beds

Area tips:

gas station about 2 miles east of Inn
Also, check out the Mystic Lady Antler Art store about 4 miles east of the inn. You cannot miss it as the house has a mountain of antlers out front. The owner has created a lot of very interesting products out of antlers - a great renewable resource!

Thank you to all the staff at Yellowstone Valley Inn for making the last leg of our driving trip so comfortable and enjoyable.

My girlfriends & I stayed in several of the cabins at YVI & RV Park for a few days, and from check in to check out found it too be a great place to stay right outside of Yellowstone National Park! Kyla, (co-owner) was instrumental from the beginning in helping us set up reservations for river rafting to recommending places to ea and shopt in Cody. We found the food right at YVI to be exceptional and ate breakfast lunch and dinner there several times. Dez, Eileen and Sha (workers) went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed and answered all questions we had. The bar, and karaoke were fun places to hang out at night. You know it must be a fun place when the locals come to socialize there!! Everyone was super friendly!! My girlfriends & I had a wonderful time there and I have recommended it to several of my friends There was also a great little gift shop where I purchased a couple things. I would definitely stay there again. Thanks YVI for a very memorable trip!!!
