Rolled up on it blind not knowing what to expect! Had a BLAST! Didn't you see the railroad tracks following the road to Fountain of Youth Campground? And as far as the only place around that is totally not the case! It's Wyoming. I found a campground not more than a hour away from Thermoplis. But then I've never complain about the campgrounds around Los Angeles either.
The guy running it was great!! Showed us to a campsite, came buy and checked on us and later even gave a mini concert to folks out by the pool playing guitar and singing! The guy was AWESOME and very accomplished!
The hot pool was the real attraction! A three level pool with only the #3 pool "cool" enough to play in! #2 was a 10-15 minute ordeal and #1 had a "Stay Out" sign, though I did see some guy go in over his head in it. The pools are fed by a hot spring that was struck while drilling for oil! The chemical make up of the water makes it unique and people come from all over to enjoy it's properties!
The campsites all had power and water (we charged our phones at a tent site! Bring stuff to plug in) and concrete pads for the picnic tables! Bring quarters for the showers and clothes washers and dryers.
Come here for the hot springs pools, consider it like you're paying to use this unique pool and he lets you camp in his backyard! This was probably the best stop we had in Wyoming!
