Our experience with the Hotel Terra was as follows:

Room: We had a one-bedroom suite, which was fantastic on the inside. It was beautifully decorated in modern Western decor. There were two full baths and a gas fireplace. But the view was absolutely terrible -- our windows faced the wall of the next-door building. We should have had a much better view, given the amount we were paying. Our room would have been better suited as hotel office space.

Staff: The staff was friendly and accommodating. We found them particularly helpful with getting reservations at popular venues and activities.

Location: The location is great (the Four Seasons location is arguably better, but much more expensive). The Hotel Terra is ski in / ski out, and next door to a very nice skating rink and a snow playground for the kids. One morning, we even had three moose outside the hotel.

Pools: There are two very nice outdoor heated pools. The one on the third floor allows kids, and the one on the roof is for adults only.

Laundry: There are free washers and dryers on each floor, although both dryers on our floor were broken.

Room service warning: If you have kids who like typical kid food, the room service dinner menu probably will not work for you. It is froufrou, and does not include a kids menu or even any bar food.

Transportation: The hotel does not offer shuttle service to the Jackson town square or the Jackson Hole Airport (that is totally understandable, given the distances). For the airport, you can take a taxi, which costs $70 for two people, and $10 for each additional person. The hotel is happy to set that up for you. As to going to the town square, you can take the bus for $3, assuming you are okay with a few stops along the way.

Cancellation policy: You must take the non-cancellation policy seriously. If you cannot get to the hotel because of a canceled flight, missed flight connection, illness or emergency, you will still be charged full price for your room. So get travel insurance that covers all scenarios.

Ultimately, we recommend the Hotel Terra. But, given the terrible view from our room, we cannot give our particular experience an exception review. That being said, we will likely stay there again as long as we can get a guarantee of a better view.

Dear EazyWeezyTraveler,

Thank you so much for your review. Your detailed comments are a great tool to help us understand areas where we can improve our guests' experiences. We are thrilled you enjoyed our staff and amenities within the hotel and apologize at the lack of view. Being located in a resort community is certainly convenient when located right at the foot of the mountain but also has its view restrictions due to neighboring hotels.

If you do find yourself back in the area, we would love to host you are your family once again and I do hope you will reach out to me directly so we can ensure you receive a room with the best view possible.

Warm Regards,

Sally Brin

It is with great sadness that I have to give a high rating for the property, but a low low rating for the management and their lack of heart and human kindness and clearly a business-first approach. We have stayed at Hotel Terra before and honestly, it is a great location for skiing, restaurants and everything you want a ski vacation to be.

What isn't great is when that ski vacation you were hoping for gets interrupted by an unforeseen accident prior to your arrival in Jackson Hole and you need to cancel. Good luck dealing with Hotel Terra! Yes, I am very aware that we made a reservation with a 30 day non-refundable reservation. There was no other option on the website at the time, but I reluctantly did it. What could possibly go wrong? Oh right, my husband could break his tibia and fibula skiing Telluride 3 weeks prior to us leaving for Jackson Hole and we'll need to cancel our trip!

The staff member I spoke with on the phone was very polite and understanding and did send my message along to the management team. I did need to call back to speak to someone about the situation and was told that "though it was against their policy" they would in fact issue a credit for 1 year. So yes, you may think that is lovely and it is better than nothing, I suppose. We won't use it as we are looking at a 3-6 month recovery bare minimum and haven't planned out next years trips yet or if my husband will ever ski again, but it is thoughtful.

I did email one last time, when I saw on their website that our room type was no longer available and they very clearly, within 72 hours, had been able to fill the slot we had cancelled, however I was told that the credit issued was already against policy and basically SOL and good luck! They did reply very promptly though!

So while I will not say you should not stay at Hotel Terra, as the grounds are great and location is great, make sure you have travel insurance, as though we were able to get a full refund on non-refundable airline tickets from United Airlines, Hotel Terra is amazingly more heartless than United and was unable to help us out on this very clear cut reason for cancellation! I hope they enjoy double-dipping on the rooms for March 2nd- March 6th! An epic snow season for sure and I am truly sad to be missing out and so so disappointed in Hotel Terra. I realize they have their policies, but usually it's so they aren't left with empty rooms, not so they can double dip!

Stay at Hotel Terra, but get Travel Insurance First!

Dear kudos4k,

Thank you very much for your review. We hope you husband is well along in his recovery and feeling much better. We regret that you were not able to join us for the 2018/2019 ski season but of course would love for you to be able to use your future stay credit at another time. Should you feel you will not use your credit in the year allotted please do reach out to us for an extension consideration. We do indeed understand that there are unforeseen issues that can lead to our guests cancelling their reservations and we do everything to be flexible with dates.

Many thanks and best wishes,

The accommodations here were absolutely amazing. The staff treated us like family and we're always making sure we were taken care of. The rooms were very clean and modern, also the bathrooms were far from tired! Walking distance to lifts and great restaurants made is easy to stick around rather then heading to town. If you are planning to stay in the village look no further this is the place to stay.

The perfect elegant hotel on the slopes of Jackson Hole. Great ski concierge services. Friendly staff. Step out the door and into your ice skates! Rooms somewhat small, but well appointed. Hip restaurant with legit pizza oven.

Hotel Terra knocked it out of the park!
Right in line with luxury digs, paired with exceptional staff treatment, this gem of a hotel provided an experience we’ll never forget. While just a walk from the best skiing experience in the country, Hotel Terra was well-equipped with every service imaginable. We flew in from Santa Barbara, CA happy to find another place to call home!
Join Terra for your next stay and go make some lasting memories.
To the amazing staff - We love You all. See you again soon!
