“Extremely Slow”
Reviewed July 19, 2013 via mobile

My wife and I last visited Alpenrose about 12 years ago, and even though we are in Teton Village 4-5 weeks a year, summer and winter, we wouldn't return to the restaurant due to poor service the first time. This month, however, we decided to give them another chance. Bad decision. We had a big group, 5 adults and 7 kids, and asked for and got a big table out-of-the-way. So far, so good. The manager explained the excellent beer list, and our orders arrived in reasonable time. After that it was all downhill. The children's orders arrived 80 minutes after we sat down, and those who are parents/grandparents know the fun that was. Adult orders arrived 15 minutes later, mostly. The last order arrived 100 minutes after sitting down.

Of course we should have left, but didn't. There were 4 other tables occupied and they faced similar delays. It seems the kitchen was seriously understaffed and this was the source of the delay. Our waiter fumbled as well- no refills, lack of setups, some places lacked glasses, etc. All in all a dreadful experience.

The only reason this isn't a 'terrible' review is that the food and beer was quite good. It's a shame the management is so poor. If you have the time, inquire diligently about today's staff and still feel like giving them a chance, go for it. You won't see me there.

“Disappointed”
Reviewed July 14, 2013 via mobile

On the last night in Teton we decided to eat here. Service was not good; took 10 mins to get drink order. Every time our waiter came to table we asked for a slew of items because we did not know when he would re appear. All portions where on the smallish side for cost . Jäger schnitzel was not the best. Gravy was tasteless, spatzel (tablespoons worth) flat in taste Not once did I say YUM! When I spend $160 on a meal I want a YUM. I should have known better. Very hard to find good Swiss/German food.

“Average across the board.”

Zero Personality, had to ask for silverware and zero follow up after meal served. Ask for detailed receipt if needed before they throw it away.

“Try the house specialty!”

Lovely meal, had the house special. Staff is fun and unobtrusive. Wine list is tempting but not overwhelming. Pleasant evening.

Very accommodating. Excellent lunch. Veal
bratwurst was amazing. No problem with substitutions. My wife had a custom-made salad. Very nice ambience and unique beer selection
