My wife and I last visited Alpenrose about 12 years ago, and even though we are in Teton Village 4-5 weeks a year, summer and winter, we wouldn't return to the restaurant due to poor service the first time. This month, however, we decided to give them another chance. Bad decision. We had a big group, 5 adults and 7 kids, and asked for and got a big table out-of-the-way. So far, so good. The manager explained the excellent beer list, and our orders arrived in reasonable time. After that it was all downhill. The children's orders arrived 80 minutes after we sat down, and those who are parents/grandparents know the fun that was. Adult orders arrived 15 minutes later, mostly. The last order arrived 100 minutes after sitting down.
Of course we should have left, but didn't. There were 4 other tables occupied and they faced similar delays. It seems the kitchen was seriously understaffed and this was the source of the delay. Our waiter fumbled as well- no refills, lack of setups, some places lacked glasses, etc. All in all a dreadful experience.
The only reason this isn't a 'terrible' review is that the food and beer was quite good. It's a shame the management is so poor. If you have the time, inquire diligently about today's staff and still feel like giving them a chance, go for it. You won't see me there.
