The front desk ladies were very friendly and knowledgeable. We were on the 2nd floor near the sauna, hot tub and pool. They kindly upgraded us upon arrival and we had a very nice room with a comfortable King bed and nice amenities. The Alpenhof is very fairly priced, given the area and competing institutions. We also liked the kitschy Swiss motif and the waitstaff and hotel staff we encountered were nothing but nice and friendly. They even recommended local eateries to us.

Also, there is a lift to the upper floors but you have to go to the first floor landing, up one flight of stairs.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay very much.

Hotel is tightly lodged between other buildings. Contrary to other reviewers was not impressed by staff. No elevator. Had to schlep our entire luggage upstairs without any help. Bedroom was small, cramped. Mattress was good, pillows not so good. Breakfast just OK. RECOMMEND NOT TO EAT DINNER AT THIS HOTEL! Extremely expensive (Swiss style and so are the prices!) and the little they served was atrocious! We were interested in eating Bison steak, they offered two type of portions, a regular one (6oz) for $29 and a reduced one (3oz) for about $23. What a rip-off! We settled for a sort of whitefish for my wife and a chicken roulade for myself. Both were at least $23 a piece. The chicken was as tough as shoe leather (serious)and the fish was hardly visible on her plate. Stay away from the restaurant. You can buy a bottle of wine in any good restaurant for the price of two glasses at this one. Pure robbery!
Exit after two nights without any help. Would not recommend this place. Too expensive for what you get. Staff attitude is somewhat on the arrogant side like you would expect in Switzerland.

Room Tip: Don't book any reservation there!

Great views and friendly helpful staff. We stayed in late May so I can't comment on how things are in the busier season, but we enjoyed our stay. We purchased a tour with Teton Science Wildlife Expeditions and they picked us up in front of the hotel. I would highly recommend them as well. Our guide Jenifer was she was great, extremely knowledgeable.

We have had a two night stay and have enjoyed the location due to easy access to the Tetons National Park and Jackson, WY as well. The staff have been very accomodating and the complimentary breakfasts hearty and much better than the typical hotels. Also, in the summer they allow your dog to stay with you.

I've traveled all over the world and this is the first review I've written. Took my wife to JH in Dec '11 for 5 days of skiing. If you are there to see the sights, shop, eat, and SKI, Alpenhof is the ONLY place to stay. If you are there to read books in the room....maybe not.

Staff was extremely helpful, food was solid, value is incredible, and the location is second to none.

We'll stay there again when we go back!

The Alpenhof Lodge is steps from the tram and the gondola at Jackson Hole. The atmosphere is laid back with a dash of charm and history thrown in. The staff is super accomodating and will even give some mountain tips too. The food was great for both dinner and breakfast. Far above average. The room was cozy. This property feels old, but in a good way. But it is not for those who love modern and slick. We loved that the place is home to three dogs that run around and gladly let you give tummy rubs. If however you have allergies or don't dig dogs it might creep you out. Overall we were very happy.
Jackson Hole mountain proved to be one of those things you have to do at least once. The mountain is dramatic and that tram ride up is better than a a ride at an amusement park. The gondola makes the mountain fun in any weather! For spring skiing, the mountain got very mogul ridden by mid afternoon. Early morning was very icy, so be smart about making the most of your day that time of year. We started at the right hand side of the mountain that sits at a lower elevation and worked our way across and up to higher elevations as the snow warmed up and softened. Lunch at the top of the Gondola lift was yummy. Upstairs lots of options for grown ups and downstair great pizza for the kids- all were satisfied!

Room Tip: We loved our room with a balcony that overlooked the entrance to the Jackson Hole tram.

My wife and I stayed at the Alpenhof last month. Three things standout about this hotel. First, it couldn't be better located - - 100 feet from the main tram at Jackson Hole. Second, the service provided by hotel staff is outstanding. While there, we asked for assistance with several unusual tasks, and we got terrific help each time. Lastly, the food in both dining rooms is the best !! We travel to Austria occasionally, and the Austrian menu at the Alpenhof matches anything we've encountered abroad. This is a very well-managed, friendly hotel.
