Jackson is beautiful!! I just don't understand why we pay to park on top of paying to ski! Targee is less crowded and parking is free!!

best resort in the West, snow is phenomenal, lot of wild terrain as well as groomers. Reel skiers there, no apres ski enthouiastes, although a lot of bars.

We stayed during the extremely busy Christmas period. Despite being full, the hotel was calm and orderly; service was both highly personal and highly professional, even removing from us the very tiresome task of dealing with United, which managed to lose a number of our bags. The Concierge desk was informative and efficient, making sure we had reservations at the best restaurants in town (it is a busy season, so if you can ask their advice before arrival and ask them to make bookings ahead of time, it is helpful but they were able to get us tables in excellent places for those nights that I had not pre-booked, despite the the holiday rush.) Although Jackson is a half hour away by a frequent and user-friendly bus or by cab, it is well worth the trip both for the food and the charm. (The food in the hotel and local restaurants is great, relying on fresh meat, fish, vegetables and fruit as well as world-class cooking skills - a far cry from the cheese-smothered stodge offered in many ski resorts). As a non-skier, I appreciated the fantastic spa and also the opportunities to see local wildlife - much more accessible than I had expected in the depths of winter. The hotel's Ski Concierge and the ski-in, ski-out facilities meant that the rest of the family made it to the slopes with minimum logistical pain. They hired a guide/instructor, who helped them make the most of the experience by taking them to the best runs for the day and also going to the head of the queue!) The Resort (rather than the hotel's) lift ticket office and a larger ski goods shop are around the corner from the Ski Concierge station: they could not be easier to find or use. A very memorable experience, all around!

The snow at Targhee is much better than at Jackson Hole but I think JH is a more difficult mountain and well suited for advanced riders/skiers. At JH I stayed on the Apres Vous side and had a great time watching the Chargers win while relaxing at The Four Seasons.

Every view is breathtaking in J hole. The only issue is that the mountain is a relatively steep one and without a lot of snow, the fun runs to ride require a lot of effort to find. But overall, it is hard to find a better mountain experience.
