Holiday Inn Sheridan - Convention Center
Ranked #8 of 19 Hotels in Sheridan
Reviewed June 30, 2009

We stayed here on a trip cross country. The hotel is very out-of-date and dirty. The staff was friendly and there was a trolley that took you into the beautiful town of Sheridan. Just needs to be updated and cleaned. Pool area looked dirty too so we didn't even consider taking our child into it.

This hotel is situated on the outskirts of Sheridan.

The reception area is fine, off the reception are is a large lounge/seating area with a Coffee shop (using starbucks beans), the business ctr is off the reception as well.

You have to walk under the waterfall! to get to the elevators.

The rooms are standard Holiday Inn fare, good size room, 2 double beds, choice of pillows, TV, easy chair, hanging area, iron, ironing board and coffee machine. Quite a good size bathroom. The room was clean no problems there.

There is a restaurant and a Bar we chose to eat in the bar, mainly burgers, but they were good and with a good choice of beers, meals were a good price for a HI.

Breakfast was a buffet with the usual suspects, $9 I think it was.

The surrounding area has a Walmart (24 hrs) across the road and a Albertsons? on the other side of the car park. As well as other smaller shops.

The pool area was clean but old, the Jacuzzi was red hot like a bath!

My family always stays at this hotel while driving to/from our home in TX to my in-law's in Montana. We love Sheridan.

We have never made reservations, just stopped by this hotel to see if they have room, and they always have great rates.

Some of the rooms have wall-sized windows that open up into a lobby/atrium which is complete with sitting areas and an actual putting green. This area was always perfect to take our toddler down to so she could burn off some energy after a long car ride. My daughter also liked looking out the room windows into the lobby.

The rooms have always been comfortable and nicely decorated. There is a vending area, a gift shop (may have closed) and a video game area. I think there is also a restaurant/bar, but we have never used it.

There is plenty of parking and there are nice restaurants in the area.

Needs attention to detail. I can tell some areas have been updated yet others are long overdue for a deep cleaning and remodel. The pool area was a major disappointment such as not clean and very soggy peeling wallpaper paint and sagging celing panels. Safety issues:wicker chairs with rotted out seats around the pool that someone is bound to sit through-windows of some 2nd, 3rd and 4th story rooms open to the atrium area wide enough a child could fall out yet no screens. Elevators moved in a jerky manner. Rooms seem dark. Our king bed was fairly comfortable but the pull out bed for the kids sloped down. (But then again I doubt any pull out bed is much better.)The staff seem to try very hard and they can't help the physical issues of an aging building. Sunday brunch was well presented and the food was good. If you get a good deal on a room this Holiday Inn is okay yet if you have to pay full price consider one of the newer hotels in Sheridan.

The rooms are dirty, outdated, and most overlook the gloomy interior of the hotel. My son and I got a few bug bites from our bed the first night. I just assumed it was nothing but the next night it was worse! The swimming pool was filthy with lots of hair and dirt floating in it. We were supposed to stay 3 nights but canceled after itching and scratching so bad the 2nd morning. I tried several times to contact the hotel, leaving messages, but no one returned my calls.
