“Clean, comfortable, friendly, good value”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 20, 2009

My business partner and I shared a room at the Riviera. The $99.95 room had two queen beds, two sinks (one inside the bathroom, one outside), tub/shower, TV with lots of cable channels, microwave, refrigerator, iron with full-size ironing board and hair dryer. It was quite clean. The beds were comfortable, and the mattresses seemed new. Four small but very stuffed pillows came with each bed. There was no thermostat but a relatively nice air conditioning/heating unit with manual control (a temp control and High Heat, Low Heat, High Cool, Low Cool etc). We also noticed the rooms were very quiet; never heard our neighbors when we were in the room.

The lobby featured towels for guests using the pool (which we did not have a chance to use). It also has an ice and vending room with ice maker, two soda machines and a snack machine that also contained some toiletry items.

The staff was very pleasant and accommodating.

There's two restaurants within walking distance that are decent; also a sandwich place across the street. There's a couple of gas stations and a 24-hour Kum & Go just down the street.

Positives: clean, comfortable, relatively spacious room, two sinks in the room, microwave/fridge in room, quiet rooms, high speed internet available, friendly staff, good location, good value for the $$$

Negatives: door locks are minimal (single locking doorknob only)...deadbolts would be nice; no business center

Overall: one of the better places to stay in town

We had a twin queen room with a balcony overlooking the river.
The room was spacious, clean and very quiet. This was very good value for money, and the room had everything you could want.
We ate at the Wolf Hotel in the evening and this was good, and then we had breakfast at the restaurant next door and were able to sit out on the patio by the river. The food again was very good.
Very good place to stay and very helpful and pleasent staff.

The Riviera Hotel is a wonderful, friendly, lodge where my husband and I frequently travel to simply 'get away from it all.'

For about $250, we spend a weekend up in Saratoga, where we can:

- take our dog for a long hike in the National Forest nearby,
- drive the back roads to Saratoga,
- take a float trip down the North Platte and do a little fly-fishing,
- check in to the Riviera Hotel (pet-friendly and reasonably priced),
- enjoy the view from our room (the Riviera is on the banks of the North Platte river - very very pretty and scenic)
- enjoy dinner at Hotel Wolf (steak dinner and wine for two, about $60!)
- Relax in our quiet, riverside room at the Riviera to the sounds of running water and the occasional goose nesting on the banks.

Repeat X1 day, go home to Colorado, and we're ready for our lives back in the city.

Thanks to the Riviera staff and the wonderful folks at the Hotel Wolf. We've taken this particular getaway a half-dozen times now, and it's been absolutely wonderful each time. (I am kind of conflicted about writing this review; we consider Saratoga and the Riviera "our little secret"!)

  • Liked — Location - right on the North Platte river, very scenic and pretty. Walking distance to restaurants.
  • Disliked — Room decor is a little tired and old - could use some new carpet, etc. in

One big problem with my stay in Saratoga is my cell phone company does not have an agreement with the local cell provider. August 23, 2006 I Stayed at the Saratoga Inn. All was great however they only had four rooms that had internet access. This visit to Saratoga I decided to stay at the Riviera. The internet works and the owners are fanstastic. I landed our corporate airplane at the local airport and, after a phone call my ride was on the way to the airport to bring me to the Riviera Lodge The Rivera Lodge is clean, believe me. The bed was just right. This hotel has not one "fancy" thing about it but I'll tell you is one of the best run Mom & Pop hotels I've experienced. I'm a corporate pilot and have stayed in more hotels than I can count, good and bad. This place is great so don't let the fact it is not a national chain stop you. This is Saratoga, Wyoming so all these motels/hotels are locals. Enjoy the fresh decor and the cleanliness of the Riviera Lodge. I did and I'll be flyling my employer here again next year for golf and fishing. Thanks guys for a great stay. And thanks for being so accommodating.

The rooms are clean, they allow pets and the new management were very friendly and helpful. The view of the Upper North Platte River is an extra bonus.

To be honest, we wanted to stay at the Hotel Wolf down the road but they were fully booked. They recommended The Riveria and we only just got into there (last double room!)

It was relatively good value and clean but definitely at the budget end of what we experienced (and paid for) during the rest of our vacation where we stayed in Best Western and Holiday Inns.

The location by the river is great and it's pretty centrally located for what there is in town (not a lot). Saratogo itself is fairly isolated but we liked the atmosphere which is low key and uncommercialised compared to places like Dubois. The Hotel Wolf is without doubt where it all happens but if you can't get in there, just stay local and make sure you get a dinner reservation!
