We had great steaks at the restaurant at the Wolf Hotel in Saratoga recently. The steak, salald bar, and choice of potato was about $23.00. The baked potato was actually one of the best I've had in a while--most taste like they've been sitting around, but this one was fresh! The hotel was built in 1893 and is in the center of town. The wine choices were good and fairly priced. It has a bar but sat in the dining room.

I suggest reservations as the dining room is small.

The Wolf got good reviews, but we’re not sure why. First, the good: The salad bar had very good, fresh ingredients, and the server was very friendly, even with several problems with the dinner. The bad: Many of the plates at the salad bar were dirty, especially on the bottom. The soup on the salad bar (clam chowder) was so bland as to not be worth eating; the filet mignon, ordered as medium, was very underdone, and had to be sent back (it was fine once it was cooked more, and the accompanying vegetables came back nice and hot); the shrimp scampi was both tough and tasteless, even after sending it back and receiving a second try (the manager did remove the charge for it). We also thought that the Wolf was rather pricey ($20+). The bottom line is that we wouldn’t go back. The best part of dinner was dessert at Lollipop’s down the street

The historical hotel in Saratoga. We had prime rib which was very nice. It was very busy that night because Bella's Bistro and J. W Huggus were closed on Tuesday. The Saratoga Inn & spa was booked for a private party. Saratoga is a small town with limited options. This one was worth trying
