Wow. So glad we ended up stopping in here during a 16 day road trip. We arrived at 9:30 on a Sunday morning with what seemed to be half the town. The cafe was roaring with conversation. We got one of the last tables. We felt a little uneasy as the obvious non-locals, but our waitress was so genuine, warm and friendly that we were instantly at ease. I ordered the oatmeal pancakes and OMG, they were so excellent. Oatmeal, buttermilk and a little cinnamon with craisens mixed in. I'm still savoring them. The rest of the breakfast was fairly standard (as was the coffee), but overall the whole experience was wonderful and memorable. There was even a little notebook hanging from the wall for travelers to tell how they found Donna's. As you might expect, there were many interesting stories. Definitely stop by if find yourself in Newcastle!
